Ferret
This is in Riberas. Wash the dust away.
John Shrall
Cool but no power.
Ferret
I was without electricity for about 15 minutes. All fine now. However, the wind did rip an awning in half over my back glassed roofed atrium. Time to put the right stuff on the glass.
adolphsj
8:23 pm no power or land line in SE Ajiiic near lower LF. No Telmex internet except hot spot on phone, Pete😉.
John Shrall
Still out in Las Salvias too. The UPS is keeping the internet up but the one for the TV crapped out after 20 minutes. Time for another battery. CFE seems to have some major issues heading into the rainy season. Just received this from Telmex. Thanks a lot Hola, tu servicio TELMEX xxxxxxx esta en una zona afectada por un corte de electricidad. Estamos trabajando para restablecerlo. Gracias por tu comprension
johanson
I'm glad you have internet, say I, Pete, up here in Seattle for my annual spring visit, waiting for the rainy season to start before returning.
Ian Greenwood
Not very reassuring.. two very minor showers this week…two power outages….hope it’s not the shape of things to come…
Ferret
Ian, tonight was not a minor shower. It was a rain storm and a wind storm combined. Enough to knock out many power grids. It's not just here that the power grid has problems. Also in Texas... Texans asked to turn up thermostats after sweltering heat knocks six power plants offline (msn.com) The advantage of living here is that you can get by without air conditioning or heat. A tinaco solves the problem of having to rely on electricity for a pump. Here no electricity is an inconvenience not a disaster.
ibarra
We are happy for the amount of rain we received. The power outages always happen here in Brisas de Chapala, so we were not surprised. Happens like this almost every year about a month before rainy season actually begins.
Mainecoons
Not the beginning of the rainy season but sure a nice break from the heat and dust. Power was off for about an hour, not bad considering how strong the winds were. Big pool cleaning job this morning.
Floradude
There is supposed to be a repeat tonight. Love it...no dust for awhile.
chapalence
A power pole fell across the Guad/Chapala carretera near the Sane hot sauce plant. Traffic into Chapala had to be re-routed until CFE made the repair. CH, Brisas, and pretty much all of Chapala was affected. The first "gusts" sounded like a tornado, so it's no surprise that trees and power poles fell.
sm1mex
Anybody measure how much rain? I’m putting my rain gauge out today.

Mainecoons
That shows no rain last night. In SE Ajijic we got at least an inch. But I do think this rain was somewhat localized and heaviest towards the east.

gringohombre
Very short and intense late yesterday afternoon with heavy rain for about 20 minutes. Power went out and just came back 15 minutes ago here in Lower SAT.
Mainecoons
High pressure taking over, looks like we will return to the hot stagnant conditions typical of May before the rains start. Lovely respite, though.
