oasiscloud
Has anyone drove highway 200 from Tecoman to Zihuatanejo recently? I would like some recent information on the safety and road condition. Thanks!
Mainecoons
That upper part is ragged in spots and there have been a number of reports of banditos on it. Not much to see either. Rode it several years ago on a moto.
vetteforron
It was over 20 years ago for me. So they say back in the good ole days. It has many curves. I remember rounding a curve and almost plowed through a herd of burros. Just a couple of places to stop and enjoy the Pacific.

happyjillin
First week in January from Manzanillo to Costa Careyes was just fine as usual but that doesn't help the OP.

E=MC2
Was on 200 yesterday and today. Road is two lane, narrow most of the way. Hundreds of curves, beautiful scenery. Today saw lots of Army and Marines. From Tecoman to Z is approximately 5-6 hours of driving. Many large trucks slow down the drive. With all that said I really enjoy the small beach villages. I have always felt safe.
Kiko
Safety concerns on HWY 200, like much of Mexico, is fluid. You buy your ticket and take your chances. Probably safer than Mazamitla today. Who knows tomorrow?
