US Advisory for Travel To Mexico

And where did you come up with that bit of misinformation?

I did read it on one of the Mexican online newspaper sites, I don't remember which one. I have to agree, after some research I believe it was overstated. It is, however, a great source of concern as it is rising. See https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/first-drugs-then-oil-now-mexican-cartels-turn-human-trafficking-n1195551 for an idea of what is happening here. That little 13 year old girl is still missing.

I still want to know more about that shootout that Luvsdawgs says happened yesterday in Chapala.  I live downtown and haven't heard anything or read anything about it.  Not saying it didn't happen but my guess is it happened in one of the more rougher neighborhoods up on the hill somewhere.

Human trafficking is indeed a cause for concern regardless of the scale of it. Unfortunately, it happens all over the world. But thanks for correcting that- Mexico is not anywhere near the top of the list and while it is more common in poverty stricken areas of the world, it happens in the first world, too.

Ok I just spoke with a cholo friend of mine and he confirmed that there was a shooting the day before yesterday up in the Plaza de Toro neighborhood.  One guy was shot.  According to US standards thats hardly a shootout.  It sounds more like one bad guy was sent out to kill another bad guy.  If occasional incidents like that frighten you here, living back in the States should truly terrify you.

Also about that human trafficking that Mudgirl expounded on.  Yes it unfortunately exists everywhere.  But I am curious about where much of the Mexican human traffickers are trafficking these humans? Could it possibly be to el Norte y el más allá?

Wrong. Large police /GN presence searching for the missing 13 year old (not yet found) led to "discovery" (blind luck or anon tip??) of a house used for keeping kidnap victims, selling drugs, and with a cache of guns, bullets, armoured vests, etc. Three bad guys tried to escape. That's when the shooting started. One shot.... other two in custody.  Guad news had extensive coverage and videos.

Human trafficking does not necessarily involve transporting people, or selling them to someone who takes them away. It can be, and is often, revoltingly, a matter of poverty stricken families basically pimping out their children to foreign pedophiles who go specifically to places where they know this is prevalent and they can get away with their  criminal behavior.

Actually, perhaps only one got shot, three were eventually arrested. It was a shoot out, they went there looking for a kidnapped minor. I thought maybe the little girl who is missing, however none was found as far as I know. The 13 year old girl is still missing. The shootout occurred near the Tech school. There were articles about it in both Voz de la Ribera and Semanaria Laguna.

It actually happened a few blocks from where I live (across from the casino blanco). This one was reported because it happened during the day, but sadly it happens much more often then I care to mention. Couple of weeks ago several CNJ trucks where parked about 2 blocks from my home. This was at night and they where stopping all the kids on motorcycles. 😉

Please do not kill the messenger(s) most government(s) send out travel advisory.

Incidentally if you are a successful business person in Mexico (Guadalajara) you have real worries about kidnapping. Come to think about it is happening at Lakeside. If it was to happen to more Gringo 's .....?

Not a challenge to your comments, but I am curious how was it determined that the trucks were CJNG? I was in Zamora a couple of years ago and they came into el centro with 20 trucks and CJNG decals on the doors and murdered some police officers. Bunch of meth head baby killers.  I assume it was determined they were CJNG because they own the plaza here in lakeside towns.

This is exactly why I have never been on Twitter, Facebook or any of those other insane "Social Media" platforms...Everything just goes completely off kilter, anything goes and nothing makes any sense!!! Why don't we just keep it on topic and deal in FACTS???

You should check out some of the more popular the lakeside Facebook accounts. Some of them talk about you in great detail. You might want to go there and depend yourself against some of the not so nice comments. Oh there are nice comments too.

I don't give a good GD you know what about what anybody here or anywhere says says about me. I do not deal with any of that since I have a LIFE, unlike others here and elsewhere!!!
