Recommended Posts

We are retired professionals, considering retiring in the Lake Chapala area.  Housesitting/pet sitting experience, with great references.  We have not been to Lake Chapala, we do speak a little Spanish. Please only respond if you are in search for a house/pet sitter.

For more details please contact us.  Thank you for any consideration

It is apparent, people responding know nothing about house sitting.

Is there some reason that you couldn't answer the questions put to you in your first thread on this subject? Why would people waste their time contacting you individually when you could have reached many more by answering 1) if you were familiar with this area and 2) do you speak Spanish etc.

We provide our house sitters a handout with phone numbers for all the people and trades they would need if they encounter a problem while we are gone.  Those people all speak at least some English.  Truth is, while it is desirable to speak Spanish here at lakeside, it is not strictly necessary.

We also have local family and neighbors who back us up when we are gone and we do the same for them.

In 14 years of living and owning here, we have found a little preparation is all that is required to see that the house sitter has the back up they need here.  No need to make a mountain out of a mole hill.  We use house sitters at least once per year for some weeks at a time, and sometimes twice.

Thank you so much for your VERY POSITIVE response.  We have house/pet sit Internationally several times, never had a problem.  Everyone we have sat for has ask us back.  Most of our sits have been for 1-3 months.  We are very positive people and enjoy life, we do not tolerate any negative interactions from unhappy  or rude people.  We treat all people with kindness and respect--until they prove the are not deserving--then we just ignore them.

Again thank you

Ken and Patti

The beauty of this forum is that one elisits comments from those who know and those that think they know... Their posting clearly place them in one camp or the other... Just an observation...

The majority of the expats here do not speak passable Spanish many speak nothing at all and they seem to be getting by just fine.  Of course its preferable to learn Spanish or at least learn enough to get by.  Just ignore the toxic negative nasty people on this forum.  When walking around town most of the expats here are actually pretty friendly and nice.

Yes, we are. I do have to wonder about the integrity of potential house sitters who alter or delete posts in a thread to make themselves look better though. ;) I must remember to use the quote function so they will not be able to do that. My bad.

Wow. Such a broad assumption based on so little information. Stick around. You may actually learn something.

So now you're judging who people you don't know are because you don't like their responses?

I would never employ housesitters with your condescending attitude.
