blankletmusic
They vary greatly, I'm sure, but just trying to get an idea of what the usual wait times are for different healthcare services. Is it usually pretty quick ( subjective, I know) to see family practitioners, specialists, physical therapists, etc? What are some of your experiences, (both good and bad ) with this? I'm talking about private healthcare services only, not IMSS where wait times can be very long for most issues.
bmh
the more you pay and the quicker they get to you.. pretty simple here. You do not want to be on life support, tell them you have no money and off you go. 3
Yo1
After being here 16 years, I've found every doc I've seen has been pretty much on time. Waaay different than in the US.

MtnMama
Remember that many specialists only come to Lakeside one or two days a week. Depending on when they are here, and how popular they are, getting an appointment can take awhile.
bmh
I rarely wait more than a week 2 when the doctor comes every 2 weeks but if iwant to see the doctor sooner I go to Guadalajara to see thrm
Mainecoons
One to two weeks usually, slower around the big holidays.
Tingting
If you don't mind driving to Guad and can read Spanish, using https://www.doctoralia.com.mx is a fantastic way to find a specialist and get verified reviews. You also see the calendar (for most) and can make your appointment. The site also tells you what languages the doctor speaks. If you're ok-ish in Spanish but more comfortable in English, it comes in very handy. Obviously, times can vary but they're usually quite quick --a week or less. 2

blankletmusic
I think most of the replies so far deal with specialists. Good to hear the wait times are short. What about other healthcare providers, ie GPs, physical therapists, etc?

dichosalocura
Could it be that another new hospital in the area is trying to malign and disparage the San Antonio Hospital? Because recently tons of new unknown users have been popping up recently talking junk about Hospital San Antonio in several threads. 4 1
dichosalocura
Lakeside7 you gave me a sad face emoji. If you are truly on this forum daily you would have noticed a pattern by now and the rift between the two fairly new hospitals. One appears to be playing dirty to get the gringo dollar. I am sure most long timers on this forum have noticed this by now. 1 3
sm1mex
Quality Care not long wait times. Orthopedic Dr San Antonio hospital not long wait time. Jorge Ulloa physical therapist has 1 hour appointments and usually wait time is none or 5 minutes. Usually Dr. comes out to lobby and invites you his/her self. bmh
My husband and I used the hospital San Antonio several times and we never had a bad experience there. I think the food is lousy and prices high but the attention we received was good as a rule.. Yes bad things can happen but there is something that is a little strange with all the complaints from the newbies.

But do you really think there is a conspiracy going on?? Sadly in Mexico there is not a Independent system to judge/rank hospital performance
Ferret
We should all consider ourselves extremely lucky that we have choices. Two hospitals here and many more in Guadalajara. Same with Doctors. However, I am suspicious of NEW posters who appear only to malign something and then disappear into the woodwork. I will consider the opinions of those who are well known posters on the forums and no others. At least I know that they do not have a hidden agenda. 2
dichosalocura
Yes I do. Look at the thread that was immediately closed that was started this morning. Hospital San Antonio Negative report. Every couple of days a newbie nobody starts a thread maligning Hospital San Antonio. The thread closed today, the 3 people posting were first timers with Spanish user names. Yes I think one newer hospital is playing a dirty war with the other more established and preferred hospital. It is so obvious.
MtnMama
Old timers may remember a certain Dr, who I believe is affiliated with the Riberas hospital, posting misinformation and questionable scary information on this and TOB about 6 or 7 years ago. So no I am not surprised. And plan to stick with SAH.

Well, it's safe to say that I've been around quite a while and I've already told the hubster that I would rather potentially risk my health by going ANYWHERE other than SAH than to definitely risk it there. This is based on several experiences, not just one...and had I not ignored their indifference, spouse would be dead. Is that junk enough for you? I also need to add that recently he was hospitalized at RMC for 6 days and the care was outstanding. Yes, we're very lucky to have choices and after trying others, RMC and Hospital Ajijic (love the father, Dr. Rodriguez) are mine.

The first time, My mother had been through the replacement of a mitral valve in the year: 2019 and was successfully discharged from the hospital. As per the doctor's suggestion, we kept visiting the hospital for regular check-ups. Furthermore, she took PT-INR tests on regular basis. We called on the hospital number and informed the PT-INR report and as per the I.N.R. ratio, the on-duty doctor suggested us the mg dosage of medicine: ACITROM. We were unsatisfied with the doctor's response, due to their negligence my mother had been facing severe health issue and almost had an alarming health condition. Please see below the summary - 1. On 11th April 2020, the doctor found the ACITROM dosage, which was suggested by another doctor wasn't correct as per the I.N.R ratio. This means the on-duty doctor at Hospital San Antonio del Lago de Chapala, suggested us the wrong dosage. Due to the doctor providing us with the wrong information, blood thickness increased and lead to blockage in the mitral valve. 2. We are still looking at what happened with the health conditions due to the doctor’s prescribed medicines, which resulted in the improvement downgrading to zero. The healthcare staff at Hospital San Antonio del Lago de Chapala is not ready to take the responsibility of this damage. They are just interested in sending us heavy bills. I urge people from Chapala to avoid visiting Hospital San Antonio del Lago de Chapala for emergency health issues Isn't this the same post that Pedro de la Fuente posted and was subsequently closed by our moderator?
