phil in mexico
Anyone know what caused the traffic jam going into chapala this morning, transito stopped traffic going into chapala and diverted many, made to go onto the libermento, one female officer directing traffic an 6 or 8 officers watching. It was a mess for several hours !

Natasha
Which means a demonstration........ and was malecon vendors protesting what I personally think is a pretty heavy-handed position taken by Chapala re: new obligations being imposed on them if they are to keep operating on same.
Mainecoons
Apparently the bone of contention this time, among other things, are the canopies some of the venders string up, which blew down in that storm last Sunday. We are at the beach with our Oaxacan family and they were amused at the pictures on Facebook as that sort of thing happens very frequently in and around Oaxaca. They claim it is the local sport there. Lots of pictures and information on Facebook.
bmh
I was very amused to , since the intend to kick out merchants in Chiapas resulted with machinegun shooting in the air for hours.. These merchants are very mild in comparaison, you can tell they are not indigenous..
