MRI Recommendations

I am checking around to see where to best place is to get an MRI.  I have read some negative comments about San Antonio Hospital and, I must say, I also had a bad experience there when I had a procedure done.  The staff really needs training on how to care for patients.

The newer Riberas Hospital does not have an anesthesiologist, so that location is not an option.

I'd appreciate any recommendations.

I hope I am wrong, but I understand that there is only one MRI location "Lakeside". And it is the one mentioned above at the San Antonio Hospital.

Oh, I recently had an MRI there, and everything went well. What did they charge me?  Well I had both a sonogram and an MRI and the total cost was $11,550 pesos.  And sadly they did not break the cost down for each, just the total combined cost.

I've had MRI and CAT successfully done at HSAT for about $5200mp mas o menos. I have also stayed there twice overnight and had occasion for day treatment 2 times, not including the X-rays,MRI and CAT[2] that I had done, and have found the staff well trained and very friendly.

Not being snoopy---- just curious. Why do you require anesthesiologist? (Don't answer if you prefer not)  Have had a few MRI's (Guad) and never with that addition

When I had 3 collapsed discs I  could not lie on my back without huge pain so I was unable to lay still for the MRI  without anesthetic. There are probably other conditions that require it.

I had an MRI done at the relatively new Hospital on the Libramiento in November of last year. Very professional, clean, efficient. It was for a torn meniscus in my left knee. Lasted a little over an hour and cost about $5,000 pesos.

Had the test results within 24 hours to share with my local physician.

I, too, am not a fan of the Hospital in San Antonio. While I haven't personally suffered from a bad experience there, several friends have. Based on their situations and experiences, if I had to choose, I'd go again to the Hospital on the Libramiento.

Salud,

Val :)

The new Riberas hospital does MRIs. It may depend on what part of your body you want an MRI done on. I've had MRIs done at both hospitals.

The Riberas one was more professional.

I would hope MRI at each hospital would do all parts of the body.

Definitely not. Most focus on a particular area. "For a cervical spine (neck), you will enter the MRI scanner head-first. For a lumbar spine, you will enter the scanner feet-first, and depending upon how tall you are, your head may be out of or near the entrance of the magnet."

I know that I will be advised to go to a specialist, and I will, but just seeking feedback from someone here that might have some input to my situation. About 7 years ago I made a bad decision and had a hip replacement here that went very wrong and a few days later fell apart. Long story short, I made it to the VA Hospital in Phoenix and they were able to go in and do the repair. It will never be perfect but recently I am having a lot of pain and it is affecting my daily walk. I am enrolled in the Seguro Popular health care system here (name has changed) and would like to start with them with an X-ray, CT Scan or MRI that I can present to get an initial look and possible referral to an Orthopedic specialist there to get an opinion. I am enrolled at the small clinic here in SAT and would just like to start with one of these 3 (X-ray, CT Scan or MRI). I know that I am looking for a long shot that someone here has a possible informed opinion on this but maybe will get lucky. Gracias

HSAT has 2 expert ortho's and they use their facilities for MRI and CAT. My experience is recent with the son Dr. Ross for a lumbar spine problem,His father is Dr. Gonzales. See one of them first . And Cedros when are you going to stop posting about things you know nothing about. CAT and MRI  do the whole body, comprende.

Just a personal comment. I have had nothing but good experiences at Hospital San Antonio. Friend who have gone have also been pleased. My doctors are there. All things considered, I have no reason to ever go to the new hospital. YRMV

Wise decision, especially for orthopedic problems.

The ones I had definitely did not do the whole body. Each one focused on a specific area.

Nice ad-jaja! Do they do PET scan? That's the only thing that I would need to go to Guadalajara for.

Again you post more nonsense. Any part of the body can be done as per doc request. That means the whole body or parts thereof.

Not true one more time what do you thing parts there of means. I rarely respond to your posts as they are usually ill informed. Now you are contradicting your self.

No, he didn't contradict himself. You just didn't understand his previous post. He was saying that if a facility does MRIs of backs, they can do them of any part of the body.

He wasn't saying that every MRI scans your entire body.

And that every MRI machine can scan any part of your body that needs to be scanned.
