Mainecoons
Apparently during the Governor's visit today it was announced that very poorly constructed libramiento will be worked on again. Frankly the foundation of that road is so bad it appears that much of it was built on dirt. Question is, will this be just another patch job that falls apart in 6 months or a real and needed reconstructiion? And second question is will the road be closed for the duration and it will be necessary to access the road to GDL by driving through Jocotepec? The west end of the libramiento is in bad shape.
Mostlylost
If it follows normal procedures it will be a patch job that will need to be re-done in 3 years as are all the other road works in Jalisco

Make work projects.
Mainecoons
I'll give the Governor credit, he flat out said the work was done wrong. That is an understatement. He sure is right about that. Someone should have gone to prison for this job. Most of the money must have been stolen.

Here in Jalisco the norm is to redo the roads every 3-4 years, It is difficult to rob money in costs of maintenance, It is easy to rob money on new works Welcome to Mexico!!!! Observing the rapid deterioration of the Carretera I would say by the end of this rainy season it will be a pot holed wreck again. In many cases in Mexico the roads are being wrecked by overloaded trucks. That is not the case for the roads in this area. It is shoddy work and materials pure and simple. Well, you may recall the multi axel truck loaded with gravel that crashed coming in to Chapala a couple of months ago that sadly killed several people. Every day several of these trucks come down the same road to service the gravel and sand businesses located in Chapala. (And yes they are well overloaded).
