Any new rules leaving GDL to U.S and beyond??

Recommended Posts

The current rule for a covid test 1 day before a flight to US expires on March 16. The CDC just said today that the mask order for airline travel and airports is extended to April 16.

Yeah. I think you have to be totally vaccinated but not sure.

Non U.S. citizens must be vaccinated,  not U.S. citizens.   Covid test required for everyone.

Could you please point me to a source for this? The last CDC update I received regarding testing was at the end of January, and I'm on their notifications (10 of them.) Please let me know what I missed.

: If you are arriving on a direct flight to the United States, your test must be done within one (1) calendar day before your flight to the United States departs. If you are arriving to the United States via one or more connecting flights, your test must be done in the one (1) day before the first flight in your itinerary, but only if the connecting flights were booked as a single passenger booking with a final destination in the United States and any layovers no longer than 24 hours. If your connecting flight to the United States was booked separately or a layover in your itinerary lasts longer than 24 hours, or your travel is disrupted and you leave the airport, you will need to get tested within the one (1) day before your flight that arrives in the United States.

Mostlylost, Thanks for the source but I see nothing that says regs change on March 16 regarding requirements for a negative Covid test one day prior to departure, as TomGates indicated, above. That's what I'm looking for: some confirmation of an upcoming regulatory change to the current testing requirement.

Possibly ther is some confusion ..the airline mask rules which were set to expire but have been extended until April?

The Transportation Security Administration is extending the current mandate for mask use on public transportation and in transportation hubs through April 18.

The mandate had been set to expire on March 18.

I am aware of this...questioning the source of Tom Gates' post, above, stating that the testing stops March 16--next Weds. I can find no verification for his comment.

Possibly because there is none.

If it is not on the CDC website nor the Department of State travel website what other official source could there be?

Any requirement for testing if using a land crossing?

No testing requirement

Many thousands of people cross daily to the USA to their jobs or for business purposes, then return to Mexico the same day, and visa versa. Requiring testing would be almost impossible.

The unvaccinated are not more likely to contract Covid,

Just to play devil's advocate, I've seen no info to back that up. Other words no stats that  show any data about people who have been vaccinated, exposed to Covid and didn't get sick. I know of no way  that could be tracked, other than hypothetically. Vaccination guarantees nothing, but stats show that the vaccinated, as you said, are less likely to become seriously ill, hospitalized, and die.
