Best sprinkler system for a large property?

It was a feckless thread

Feckless??? This is a word that is quite familiar but somewhat feckless, so I looked it up: "lacking initiative or strength of character; irresponsible". BUT, just what the heck does this have to do with my OP titled: Best sprinkler system for a large property?

What I don't get is why are you paying those (mostly) crooks at Chapala government? I was under the impression you pay SIMAPA and you can choose metered or annual fee.

I don't no where, probably California, they measure your grass area and are taxed accordingly, or forbid watering during shortages. Many are putting in permeable cement. This allows rain water to flow through and then there are open blocks to grow your drought resistant greenery. Others glue down premium astroturf, the worst solution, a concrete pad painted grass green.

So, Gringohombre, to better answer your question, it would help if we knew the dimensions of the large lawn area that you wish to water or irrigate. That way we could better recommend a solution to your problem. Also, do you happen to have a pressure meter to measure what the water pressure is at your site?

If not have a pressure meter, you might want to borrow one. I would lend you mine, but I am up north for the month, and frankly don't remember where it is in my lakeside home.

Aside from your objection of pumping from the lake and going across the Federal Zone, Virgo Lady gave you the best solution; a pump direct to your sprinkler system. You can purchase a sprinkler or irrigation pump from Amazon or Home Depot. You could then pump from a cistern or tinaco or even choose to dig a shallow well (easily done close to the lake). My preference is for an adjustable gun type sprinkler. I used these on my farm. The advantage is moving only one sprinkler (in your case) or you could opt for a series of smaller sprinklers. You could even install below surface lines and pop up sprinklers. This is also aside from the maintenance of a lawn, which I personally find wasteful. Planting trees, alfalfa and various herbs and placing raised vegetable garden beds is a much more economically reasonable use of space and water. Besides that you could feed your friends and neighbors.

Small gun here;

Permeable grass pavers. Look nice.

https://www.google.com/search?ei=8jLnYa-bKN_MkPIP2fuMEA&q=permeable+grass+pavers&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiv3JyJobz1AhVfJkQIHdk9AwIQsAR6BAgMEAE&biw=962&bih=415

Jocotepec measures lawn areas. That is why so many houses there lack front yard lawns. Hope these pavers come to Mexico. This system makes sure the rain gets to the water table, versus runoff to the Lake.

And Tim, you forgot about rain barrels, collect from the gutter. Protect from mosqiters.

Because it's f@cking IRRESPONSIBLE  to use water for a lawn in an area where many people go without for their basic needs! Furthermore,  it shows a lack of initiative and a bloody weak character to not be able to come to this conclusion on one's own and find a solution that doesn't involve putting a further strain on this precious resource.

Now, back in the ignored user garbage bin with you where you belong.

It's amazing that such an innocuous post can bring the Left Wing loonies and Socialist whackos out of the woodwork trying to tell others how to live thier lives!!! I know there is a regulation on this board regarding not using personal insults against others, however mods, please do not take any action here since I am sure that he/she knows not what they are saying. My property take a quarter of a whole block and includes a large living space, separate office and a couple of bodegas that are used as warehouses plus a football field size lawn fronting the lake. I am a lifelong businessman, first in California for years and now here for 14 years exporting Mexican home décor, arts and crafts and more to the US and  worldwide. Both there and here I have always hired bilingual Latinos at good wages and conditions. Here the office has a great ambience of the grass, trees, shrubs, plants and flowers that of course benefit greatly from the watering regimen. I have hired many students from the Chapala Tech College and the last 2 have gone on to great positions at IBM in Guadalajara. Sometimes potential clients or vendors will visit and of course go away with a very positive opinion of us and how I operate my business. Oregontochapala, If you are reading this, and I am sure are, probably by candlelight (by the way, electricity, powered by coal and oil saved the whales), maybe you should consider the whole picture before spouting off here. I pay wages, taxes, create jobs and hopefully improve others' lives and also make them better and brighter with our wonderful products from here. ¡¡¡Viva Capitalism, Free Enterprise and FREE CHOICE!!!

Thank you for this suggestion....this looks like what I am looking for. However I have gone to both the Amazon and Home depo sites here and entered: Rain Bird 65D impact sprinkler, and nada. Any suggestions on how to obtain it here? Gracias....

None of this has anything to do with using up a precious resource to keep your lawn green in the dry season, and why you would think it somehow entitles you, or that they are in any way connected, says a  lot.

It was the pumps (sprinkler or irrigation) I suggested are available on Amazon. I'll look it up tomorrow. The gun sprinkler you should look for through the Rainbird dealer someone mentioned.

First worlders just need to get over their lawn obsession. There's no need to spend a bunch of money on permeable concrete, or anything else. Learn to live with the brown lawn in the dry season and enjoy the lush green lawn that will all come back after a few days of rain.

...and some people need to learn how to civilly express their opinion without denigrating those with whom they disagree.
