InChapala1
My gardener is getting up in age and asked if he could bring his 15 y.o. grandson to help him. I want to make sure I comply with all laws in this situation. I'd pay the grandson the same wage. The work would happen outside school hours. And I checked Mexico's labor laws, and appears if a minor if 15 y.o., its legal to work as long as parents provide written permission. Any issues with this situation? Anything I need to be aware of? ambconsultants
I just checked this and there are weird rules if under 18. If you are to do it right he needs to get a social security number and you need to insure him( as he works with his father might be some exemptions if he is insured). As of his age some types of work not allowed and there are reduced hours. You should have someone read the labor law to make sure you are OK.
RVGRINGO
It might seem easier to just let him help his father and that you give his father an appropriate 'tip' on those occasions. He can choose to pass it on to his 'helper'.
Alfa
The legal age for a child to work is 18 years. there is a movement afoot in the Govt to try and reduce this to 16 years of age.

CHILLIN
Slavery is a much better idea but Queen Isabella 1 of Spain outlawed the practise in the 1,500's for all her colonies. There was an exception for use in religious training, which they were quick to pickup on throughout Mexico. Maybe start a cult?
