Influenza shots at Segura Popular

Recommended Posts

It is the tri-strain. We were also given a pneumonia booster shot and was offered a tetanus booster but declined that. Now that I know the place doesn't exist, I probably won't return....even the doctors that I've known at that location probably weren't the real one's either. I guess that I was mostly lost!

I went to Chapala this morning to the Centro de Salud.  I believe it is on Calle Velasco about 3 blocks up from Madero.  Had my flu shot in about 15 or 20 minutes.  It may have been called Seguro Popular before when that org. existed, but not any more.  But I did have my Seguro Popular booklet and they recorded the vaccination in it.  Have no idea whether the vaccine is current or not.  Did not recognize the number they recorded which was - V3H60.

The vaccine being used by the Mexican health system is Vaxigrip

VAXIGRIP® [Inactivated Influenza Vaccine Trivalent Types A and B (Split Virion)] for intramuscular use, is a sterile suspension containing 3 strains of influenza virus. The type and amount of viral antigens contained in VAXIGRIP® conform to the current requirements of the World Health Organization (WHO).

SAT said today they are out of their supply for this month.  Expect some more in December. No idea Chapala.

You do know they're good for 5 years?

Yes but I figure at my age, 5 years is a good long time and it's been awhile since I had one. Thanks
