For those among us (me at the TOP of this list) whose circadian rhythms despise DST, our most-awaited day of the year approaches. For Mexico,   Oct 31 takes us back to Standard Time .  Yes it messes with US/Canada TV fav's for a while.... but the reward is MORE than worth it. :D

I love DST....hate when we go back to shorter evening hours.

DST should be year-round, with no clock changing.

There is a lot of support for making DST permanent in the US.  At least 15 states have approved moving to year-round DST, but all must await Federal action.

@MainecoonsWhy do you hate DST????  You really prefer it when it gets dark earlier???

There may be some confusion....I think most folks hate the CLOCK CHANGING.  And most people like longer daylight hours and most dislike when it gets dark at 6pm.

The movement is to adopt DST year round.  And ditch Standard Time.

Having DST year round means NO clock changing, and LONGER daylight hours.

Benefits of year round DST https://ktla.com/news/nationworld/u-s-senators-unveil-bill-to-make-daylight-saving-time-permanent-as-more-states-try-to-end-time-changes/

U.S. senators unveil bill to make daylight saving time permanent as more states try to end time changes

The legislation was introduced by Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, Roy Blunt, R-Missouri, Sheldon Whitehouse, D-Rhode Island, Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Mississippi, Rick Scott, R-Florida, and Ed Markey, D-Massachusetts.

So far, 15 states have seen similar laws, resolutions, or voter initiatives approved to make DST permanent, according to the release. Those states are: Arkansas, Alabama, California, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

And for the states trying to abolish time changes, therein lies the roadblock: the U.S. government. That’s because for the changes to take effect, a federal statute must first be changed — which is precisely what “The Sunshine Protection” seeks to accomplish.

“Springing forward and falling back year after year only creates unnecessary confusion while harming Americans’ health and our economy,”  Sen. Wyden said in the release. “Making Daylight Saving permanent would give folks an hour back of sunshine during the winter months when we need it most.”

“Studies have found year-round Daylight Saving Time would improve public health, public safety, and mental health– especially important during this cold and dark COVID winter,” Sen. Markey said in the release.

Implementing year-round time change has been found to reduce cardiac issues, stroke, seasonal depression and childhood obesity, according to the release.

Other potential effects include a decrease in the number of car crashes, which see brief spikes at the start of DST, likely the result of people losing sleep with the loss of an hour, according to research.

Other studies have shown that daylight saving time benefits the economy, lessens energy usage and even reduces the number of robberies, according to the fact sheet.

“The public safety improvements, economic benefits, and the wellbeing of the American people are all excellent and credible reasons to embrace year-long Daylight Saving Time,” Sen. Hyde-Smith said in the release.

Yes because I like to get up in the morning and have light before 8AM.  We are at the far western end of our time zone which makes sunrise late without tampering with the clock.  Our shortest day is around 11 hours so we have daylight in the early evening anyway.

And no, daylight hours are not longer.  They are just shifted later.  For this area, too late for much of the year IMHO.

Time is an artificial concept, which does not really exist in any one spot. Move a bit, and your concept of time must change. Of course, if you move fast enough, as you follow the setting sun, you can keep your apparent time constant, and the sun will appear to have stopped.

Kind of like the sun never sets on the British Empire. ☺️
