CHILLIN
AMLO has announced a new amnesty for foreign registered cars in Mexico. These are normally called "chocolate" vehicles. Details are emerging. https://us.yahoo.com/news/mexico-gives-reprieve-illegally-imported-192442695.html

CHILLIN
The last amnesties were in election years, correct? Pretty hard for politicians to take a hardline against this issue. No, you all have to buy new vehicles or pay high duties. Could be a whole new industry for Mexico. Importing flood damaged vehicles and then the labor intensive work bringing them back up to specification again. As discussed before, the manufacturing of every new vehicle leaves a giant bootprint on the environmental health of the planet.
CHILLIN
My wife needs a 1969 Chevy Impala to take the kids to school. Just kidding, no kids, no car.

Now in the twilight years you are suddenly "woke".
Mainecoons
The manufacture of practically everything has environmental impact. Just sayin'.
AndyPanda
Have to agree with that. We are all trying to be better, I think, but until someone comes up with something to replace vehicles, batteries, plastic, lawn chemicals, ashphalt and everything else, we are kind of stuck in our own future. CHILLIN
Cut out anything which uses nonrenewable fossil fuels, or tax as a luxury. I hope my friend who bought my old diesel truck converts it to used (but filtered) cooking oil. But if he is driving to Colombia, availability might be difficult, but mixing with diesel is no problem and actually recommended. Andy - the Shat agrees with you! https://ca.yahoo.com/news/william-shatner-overwhelmed-with-sadness-while-discussing-space-flight-053339115.html
