Shaw Direct Outage

Recommended Posts

Did any of you notice that we all lost our Shaw Direct signal at about 14:20 today. It's going to happen every day now for the next week or two. What is causing this? Well every spring and fall, when the sun is directly behind the Shaw Direct satellites our satellite dishes are pointed at, the Shaw Direct signal is temporarily lost.

How long does the outage last each day? Well for a minute or two the first day and perhaps 10 to 15 minutes on the 8th day or so then outages slowly get weaker and weaker and after a week or two, no more signal loss.

So no big deal. There is nothing wrong with your Shaw Direct system. It's simply the sun temporarily blocking your signal.

There are still folks getting TV by satellite??? I still have 2 huge Dish TV dishes on the top of my house waiting for the right offer!!! I certainly do not miss the US$80 monthly fees for the basic package...and am getting much more for free with my Firestick apps...and no weather outages!!!

Those to the right,  often find  FOX better.

Those to the left, often find MSNBC better.

They say CNN is almost in the middle, but slightly to the left.

And depending upon your political leanings, you will often like the news station which is closer to your political leanings as your favorite station.

At least that is what has been written and spoken about on line and on various talk shows.

I force myself to watch a little of each, although I like the one best, that most closely follows my political views.

Is Fox News more educational??? Judging from what I hear is spewing on other so called "Mainstream Media" I would give it a definite YES!!!

I have only seen Fox in passing and it was not educational. By educational I mean CBC, TVO, CTV, the Knowledge network, the BBC, PBS , CNN, MSNBC, etc. I rarely watch movies.

Wow nobody watching a PBS channel ? Sadly regardless of the channel all the news seems depressing and  dismal...Maybe some one could start a "Good News" channel Pete what is you schedule...Start your day with News from The Breakfast Club

When I am getting up each morning, getting ready to go out to breakfast, I just turn on my Seattle local news channels, usually ABC. I've got it on right now as I check what's new on my computer, ie the Chapala Forum, emails, etc.

And quickly adding to the list is New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and lastly USA--I think the best place; so far; is Mexico--- I think Mexicans are a little more street wise .

Mexico will be on the list if our president has his way. Little by little he is heading that way. Military in charge of everything. Guards from Cuba same as Maduro. Stopping private investment in energy and electricity. Charging political opponents with false crimes. The list goes on.

bobby brown doesn't know what marxism is either. Those of us that went to school in Canada, where one learns what's going on in the world and not just  our own country learned what Marxism is in grade eight. Being philosophically left of center does not equate to Marxism in the least.

What Is Marxism?

Marxism is a social, political, and economic philosophy named after Karl Marx. It examines the effect of capitalism on labor, productivity, and economic development and argues for a worker revolution to overturn capitalism in favor of communism.

Is this what they are teaching in Canada??? Yes unfortunately, there, in the US and other countries this is the way they are moving. As a lifelong businessman frankly I do not understand why!!!

I clearly stated that we LEARNED what it is in grade 8 along with many other philosophical systems throughout school yers and real life afterwards and if you think that it is being practiced in Canada and the US you haven't learned much .You even had to google and found a very simplistic def of Maxism. At your age it's probably too late to venture forth out of your narrowness. I am a capitalist and was even a politician. My political heroes are John A. MacDonald and Sir Edmund Burke who  was the first large C conservative in a democracy as well as being a member of London's Hellfire Club which suggests that he was a libertine as well.

The way I understand it is that SOCIALISM is creeping in the back door of many schools in the US and Canada and this is a precursor to full blown Marxism and yes, Communism. It is one thing to teach this as a lesson to be learned as a historically bad thing to avoid and another to teach with tacit approval. Just look at all the uproar in the U.S. with parents confronting school boards all over the country on the direction of thier kids education. Venezuela once was the most prosperous country in Latin America, sitting on an ocean of oil and capitalism was thriving. Look at it now!!! The guy who took it there was elected TWICE...and many credit a school system that was flat out teaching SOCIALISM that succeeded in brainwashing the the population together with the cooperating media. The country is now a flat out dictatorship with one third of the population fleeing, many to the open southern border of the U.S.

I know enough about Marxism---it's bad news--especially for me--no stupid Russian from old Russia tells me what to think or do--!!!

the way you get rid of Marxism is spray it like a bug--Someone said that Marxism should have been strangled in the crib----I don't know why all these lefties don't come up with something knew instead of these tired old ideas--OH= I know what it is---Marxism is just plain  "DEMONIC"  !!!!-

You understand NOTHING. But congratulations on turning a thread about satellite TV into a gasbag political dance.
