Most probably the yellow was pollen from a flower on his chest. I have seen that many times. The most common right now is the Violet Crowned which shows grey on back & wings, purple on the top of the head and a very white breast & neck. The colors are mostly green with blue highlights and a white rump. They are the second most common here right now.
