Irish Gal
Is it possible for Canadians to fly into Tijuana airport then cross into the U.S. by way of the CBX Crossing? Any Canadians with recent experience doing this?
Mostlylost
No Land crossings are not permitted for Non US citizens or Permanent residents. Your best bet would be to fly to LAX for a southern California visit. Also read a news article that this has been extended again https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/2020/07/17/us-canada-mexico-border-closures-extended-into-late-august/5437557002/D COVID-19 Related Travel Restrictions across the U.S. Borders with Canada and Mexico The United States will temporarily limit inbound land border crossings from Canada and Mexico to “essential travel”. This action does not prevent U.S. citizens from returning home. These restrictions are temporary and went into effect on March 21, 2020. They will remain in effect through 11:59 pm on July 21, 2021. This decision has been coordinated with the Governments of Mexico and Canada. The following categories do not fall within the definition of “essential travel:” Individuals traveling for tourism purposes, such as sightseeing, recreation, gambling, or attending cultural events in the United States. Who is considered an “essential” traveler? Citizens and lawful permanent residents returning to the United States. Individuals traveling for medical purposes (e.g., to receive medical treatment in the United States). Individuals traveling to attend educational institutions. Individuals traveling to work in the United States (e.g., individuals working in the agriculture industry who must travel between the United States and Canada or Mexico in furtherance of such work). Individuals traveling for emergency response and public health purposes (e.g., government officials or emergency responders entering the United States to support federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial government efforts to respond to COVID-19 or other emergencies). Individuals engaged in lawful cross-border trade (e.g., truck drivers supporting the movement of cargo between the United States and Canada and Mexico). Individuals engaged in official government travel or diplomatic travel. Individuals engaged in military-related travel or operations. Irish Gal
Thanks for your response, Mostly Lost. However, the article in USA Today is dated July 10, 2020 not 2021 so it doesn't appear to be current news.

Check the CBP website Based on the success of the existing restrictions and close collaboration with Mexico and Canada, @DHSgov will continue to limit non-essential travel at our land ports of entry with Canada and Mexico until Aug 20,” Chad Wolf, the acting U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, said in a tweet. “Close collaboration with our neighbors has allowed us to respond to #COVID19 in a North American approach and slow the travel-related spread of the virus.”
Irish Gal
I'm hoping under the Essential Travel into the United States that individuals traveling for public health purposes might include obtaining a J&J vaccine.
Mostlylost
According to the border agents in Laredo no. And a couple of months ago at CBX no. Just fly to LAX or San Antonio as many others have done. You can return the same day.

You can go back and forth there if you are an American with no problems. I imagine Canadians can also. You might need a Covid-19 test not over 3 days old. My friends in San Diego cross back and forth with no test often. The border on the Mexican side was never closed to anyone. They just said it was.
Mostlylost
Canadians can not go back and forth by land unless they are permanent residents of the US. No covid tests are required for land crossings. On the Mexican side you are in the border zone and thus do not need a tourist permit so in that manner the border to Mexico is open.
