Temporary residency tramite costs?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know the approximate cost of getting a temporary residency (2 years)? I'm referring to the cost of the tramite (which appears to be about $6600 according to the government website), but also any additional obligatory costs.

The reason is that I got married this year to a Mexican, and we were given a recommendation for someone who could help us with the process. He told me the total cost was $14,400 for the two-year residency, and then on top of that he wanted to charge $5000 pesos which in total is about $1000 USD...that seems way to high for me. Is there any reason the tramite would cost $14,400? Or is he just trying to earn some extra cash on the side?

Any thoughts are much appreciated...

-Jesse

We just renewed 3-year TR with Azucena Bateman Campos (ABC Lega, top Best of Chapala 2020l) in Ajijic and the gov't INM fees are $8376 MX each TR Visa, plus her fees of $1,800 MX each visa. Cheap? Maybe not, but she is including our vehicle TIP extension with Customs for another 3 years and was very efficient and accurate when we used her with our initial visa paperwork into Lakeside.
