That would be highly unlikely anywhere.

Actually it is very common everywhere.... fiber out to a neighborhood DSLAM box and then copper DSL to the home. Of course the speed is NOT fiber-ish at all but this is what the OP might have been asking.... is it REAL FTTH or just fiber out into the neighborhood and copper into the house.

When Telmes does that they do not notify the subscribers that are affected.  They only send the emails & texts when fiber is available for the individual house.

Let's get our definitions straight. What you are talking about is called Fiber To The Node (FTTN). That is, running fiber to the corner street box (slab, cabinet, node, terminal, ports, whatever you want to call it). And that is one way to deliver service, which then gets converted to copper to go to the poles and to the home. But the definition of Fibre To The Home (FTTH) is most definitely fiber from the box, to the pole, to the home.

The question was do they run fiber into the home, or copper from a fibre backbone. And the answer is unequivocally NO. No one does. It's a waste of money, defeats the purpose, and would cause all kinds of troubleshooting issues with the converters, boxes, wiring, cable, corner slabs, network management, etc.

Since speed of DSL(2 wire metal ) is based on distance from Switch eliminating much of this wire can increase your speed.   I have seen 30 down in SAT with no change in modems and no Fiber to house.  Before changes they were getting 1 to 10 down.   While my fiber to my house is much better 30 down is enough to run streaming TV so we do have some part fiber connections at least in SAT. This has happened in the last few months.
