bdmowers
Ilox people installed their cable on my street yesterday. I know there are a lot of discussions involving Ilox on Chapala.com but I did not find what I needed. So, I ask, What is the best way to initiate Ilox fiber optics? What is the best phone number to use to contact someone there for installation? Is it best to let Ilox put in their modem or is there another that is the best one to buy? Should I purchase a router? Is there a best person to approach in Ilox? If so, do you know how to contact this person? Is there anything else, due to your experience, that you would have wanted to know in the beginning of getting Ilox installed that you know now? Thank you. lcscats
Go to office on Revolution in Ajijic and ask your questions and fill out the papers.
Ferret
If you have a choice between iLox and TotalPlay, choose the latter. iLox customer service leaves a lot to be desired and the actual product is okay (not great). Ilox wifi truly sucks and, I believe, their voip phone still sucks too. I use Telmex landline and Telcel for phone service. Again, it depends on the choices available to you in your location...

I certainly would choose TotalPlay over Ilox but it seems it might be a long time before it get to Chapala. I can try Ilox now and when TP comes to Chapala I probably would switch.
Ferret
Revolution is the street that the Wednesday market is on in Ajijic. The iLox office has a street presence behind Scallions on the next corner. Obviously, do not go on a Wednesday.
Lexy
TotalPlay is promoting their service in the Chapala/Riberas, includung passing out beautuful brocures (completely in Spanish; not a word of English) in front of Walmart. My experience in signing up for their service didn't go so hot. I backed off. I'm thinking the promotion of their service is better than actually getting the service underway. dichosalocura
Total Play is already available in Chapala. We've had it for the past 2 months here in downtown Chapala. And we've had almost zero problems so far, knock on wood.
