Jubilacion
Hola All, we're driving next week to San Miguel de Allende from Lakeside. I Googled and Waze the directions to find 2 main routes with pretty similar ETA's: #1) (Has Tolls) Hwy 35 past Ocotlan and La Barca to Hwy 150 to Hwy 90, etc... and north in Celaya to San Miguel #2) North past Guadalajara, to Lagos de Moreno (Hwy 80) then south past Leon and Guanajuato, etc. Suggestions on safety and road conditions, por favor?? Gracias! 🇲🇽
Ferret
Take your #2 route. I assume that's the toll road and it's well worth it when time is valuable. Easy route, well marked and usually excellent roads. It will slow down once you get on the road to San Miguel because of the curvy road. Pleasant scenery most of the way if a little "dry" looking at this time of the year.
Mostlylost
Take the route just short of Lagos de Moreno passing by Leon.. Use toll roads as much as possible. The farther away from Salamanca, Celaya, and Irapuato the better. 1
