Fireworks this late in San Juan Cosala?

Recommended Posts

For most Mexican holidays, it is the EVE of the holiday when much of the noisiest cohetes are lit, especially at midnight.  Today, Monday May 3 is Día de Santa Cruz, hence the noise makers late Sunday.

While not a Legal holiday, Día de Santa Cruz is a big deal within the construction sector, which is the livelihood of many locals.

While you'll see large crosses at construction sites today everywhere, if you take a walk through the Seis Esquinas neighborhood of Ajijic you will also see many altars outside of people's homes.
