cedros
I have a Canon Pixma printer that still works. Ruben at the computer place in Riberas says it needs cleaning inside. Free to anyone who wants it or is there a place to take it to.
RickS
I can't imagine what 'cleaning inside' a Pixma printer might mean. Was it stored somewhere like in a shed? Otherwise inside of an inkjet printer can't get 'dirty'. Now maybe the ink cartridges were left in it and it might need to do a 'recalibrate' when new cartridges are inserted but.... Ferret
Dust is a problem in Mexico. I have an HP Laserjet and take the vacuum to the insides once a week. I remove the paper after I've finished printing and fold up the tray... the dust still gets inside that area. Sigh.

cedros
I can't imagine what 'cleaning inside' a Pixma printer might mean either. It was always kept in a clean house. It squeaks a bit when printing. Maybe it should have had a dust cover.
mudgirl
If a printer isn't used regularly, the ink passageways can get clogged with ink and need to be flushed out with distilled water. Maybe that's the kind of cleaning the technician was referring to.
RickS
On my Canon Pixma inkjet printer the ink cartridge also contains the print heads. No other 'passageways' to clean. Change the cartridge and it will print clean.... assuming no other problems.

It is difficult to get the right cartidges now-someitmes Office Max has them or local places can order them in but that can get pricey. I did try changing the cartridges through Ruben but... it was not perfect.
AlanMexicali
For years when I had something of some value and didn't want I would set it on the sidewalk outside my fence with a "gratis" sign taped to it. 1
