600 dollar stimulus check

Curious if anyone that has their stimulus check mailed to them as opposed to direct deposit received it yet. Previously after reading in a thread on this board about checking with the post office to see if your check was there I went to the PO that serves my community and low and behold there it was. No telling how many months it was sitting there. Was told that we should have received a notice but of course this being Mexico.... We've already checked again for the latest check but nothing.

We have not gotten the $600 stimulus yet even though we did get the $1200 one and when we check online with the Get My Payment function on the IRS site and it just says they "don't have enough information to process" and no other information is available to us to know what the heck is going on:/ They have not updated our address that we moved from over 2 years ago even though I have filed the appropriate form with them, even though we get our SSI checks direct deposited every month:/

You may have to claim it on your taxes.

You never got your second stimulus checks and the deadline has passed -- what should you do if your $600 stimulus payment hasn't arrived yet? You can plan to claim it when tax-filing season opens Feb. 12. (That goes for tax nonfilers, too.) Or is there still a chance your money went out before the deadline and is on its way to your mailbox? Your direct deposit payment could also be stuck in a tax-preparer issue with the IRS and direct deposit.

Either way, if your check hasn't appeared by Feb. 12 when the IRS officially begins to process tax returns, you can claim your outstanding $600 payment for each qualifying adult and child dependent in the form of a Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 federal tax return.

Do you have reason to think that the FBU in Guadalajara would not have the correct information?

GOOD NEWS as posted earlier if you haven't received it when you file your 2020 tax return there is a section to claim either or both the first $1200 and the second $600.

Other GREAT NEWS for those who had a spouse that was not a permanent US resident filing jointly and both were denied the $1200 payment last year the latest legislation corrected that and you both will be eligible for the $1200 and the $600 payments. You can claim them on your 2020 tax return.
