SENTRI pass for driving across border

Recommended Posts

It will depend on your port of entry.

In Laredo when bridge 1 is open it is only for sentri and could save a lot of time depending on the time of day you would cross. Checking today at 1:50 bridge 1 is under 10 minutes with  Sentri   brige 2 is 15 minutes general lanes.

If you cross at Columbia it might save you 5 minutes 90% of the time.

The total cost the last time I checked was about $220 per person. Each person in the vehicle must have the  pass. It is good for 5 years. Also you will need to go to a physical appointment for an interview and fingerprinting.

When did Laredo Bridge I open to vehicle traffic?

It's been open for entry to the US for some time. It remains closed for entry into Mexico

Right now 8:20am is 0 minutes

The Sentri pass is not cost effective if you cross at Laredo Bridge 2. In order to use the Sentri lane you must pay a yearly fee to Mexico to access the road on their side of the river. Unless you cross a lot it's impossible to justify. Plus you have to make an appointment at one of the border crossings in order to get interviewed and obtain a card. Then, after 5 years or even if you change cars you have to repeat the process at the border office.

With the card you can use the ready lane but based on experience everyone fans out before the gates. Maybe everyone in the ready lane has a card but I doubt it.

Laredo bridge 2 has not had a Sentri lane for a long time. May 30 2018 was the last day.

Sentri is only available on bridge 1 and Columbia in the Laredo area.

Exactly where do you pay on Bridge 1 other than the normal bridge toll?  All lanes are Sentri only on bridge 1.
