Note: Jalisco to consider new covid restrictions today

Recommended Posts

If Alfaro imposes any restrictions, they need to be state-wide.

His holiday restriction (late-Dec. to early Jan.) that applied only to GDL and PV was misguided.

Did he really think the tapatíos were going to stay home, and not go elsewhere for one of the biggest vacation periods of the year??

He basically sent people from the state's highest infected areas into areas with lower infection rates.

This past week's spike of infections in Chapala are the highest since Covid numbers were made available at local level.

Anyone over 60 who, under previous buttons could go out for groceries or to pharmacy or other necessary place, medical, etc. (and still can), theoretically now must “stay at home” and not go to the restaurants, which are 50% open.....probably won’t happen Lakeside.

Probably won't happen anywhere.

Well here we go again folks, something that has been proven not to work the govenor of Jalisco is going to try it again for the 3rd or 4th time.  He must be planning on running for Presidente soon.  If it didn't work the first time the second time or the third, what makes him think it will work this time?  I guess it just looks good on his résumé.   Remember that the Mexican people are not receiving stimulus checks nor receiving any government assistance in these difficult times.  They must be allowed to continue to work to feed and cloth their families.  Most Mexicans live in extended family homes with grandma living in the back room.  The virus is already so prevalent, if the truth were known, most of us have already been in contact with it and or have already had it without knowing.  These measures will do little to stop or slow down the infection rate it will just hurt the already hurting Mexican families.  But it will look good on Alfaro's portfolio and it may boost his self esteem.  The only measure that will help is to get the vaccine out to anybody over 60 and maybe the death rate will go way down.  That is it, period.  Anyways, after living with it for over a year, most people have accepted it and have lost their fear.

Would you prefer he did nothing like AMLO?

I've never seen anyone in Mexico provide information as to WHERE people are getting covid and how these shutdowns correspond.  All I've seen is some indication that people get most cases at home where they are in prolonged contact with someone who is infectious.

Does this mean we can't go to Costco because we are over 60?

I would say yes, if you are over 60 you can't go to Costco.  Will there be roadblocks?

The only thing that will work is a naturally ocurring herd immunity or herd immunity by way of vaccines.  The shut down we had this summer, that lasted almost 2 months, did not work nor did the following ones.  If they had we wouldn't be where we are today.  I guess you could say that if people just stopped acting like people we could stop the spreading of the disease, but that ain't going to happen is it?  Maybe, they should try ankle bracelets to enforce social distancing norms for the entire population.  When you get closer than 10 feet of another human being outside of your immediate family it begins to beep and alerts the authorities.

Based on the progression of the virus in the world no one has a plan that has worked. Basically a lockdown does not stop the virus' progression it just delays it.

The only exception being New Zealand which is very odd because their harshest rules were less than some other countries, and didn't even include mandatory mask use except on public transport.  Studies may show there have been other factors that have aided New Zealand.

Would you concede that "maybe" this increase is being caused by the "new strain" that is popping up in other countries and who are conducting on going tests ( which Mexico appears not to be doing?)

So will Soriana, Walmart, El Torrito etc. be looking at id's to see how old we are? I doubt it.  If we need groceries they aren't going to tell me I can't buy them because I am a couple years over 60.  How will they know if we are going into those stores to buy medicine and, while there buy groceries?
