Spanish a la carta.

This program is evolving and preparing for its 2021 edition.

It aims to serve students of Spanish with particular and specific topics that will allow them to develop in the Spanish-speaking community. Now Spanish a la Carta will present classes with various exercises to practice and improve the different skills required to speak a second language.

In January 2021 we will focus on listening.

So, get ready to evolve with us.

Learning a second language is about communicating with members of a culture other than your own, and the biggest challenge for a student is understanding a native speaker in a spontaneous conversation. In this series of courses you will be able to exercise your listening comprehension step by step with activities and tips that will help you improve your skills as a bilingual person.

You will be able to identify the sounds of Spanish and distinguish them in the spoken chain; you will also learn some tips to understand the rhythm and speed of speakers, as well as the most common word games and you will learn some pronunciation differences according to the region of Mexico you are in.

The sessions are online. (we use Zoom)

Each session lasts one hour and a half (90 minutes).

Registration is online or in the LCS Service Office, at least 3 days previous to the class.

Sessions are limited to 9 participants.

No refunds.

To participate you must be an active member and your membership must cover the duration of the classes.

Package 1. Distinguishing the sounds.

2-session class.

Wednesday, January 13 & 20.

From 10:00 to 11:30 am.

The first step is to know the sounds in Spanish and get used to the possible combinations in this language. It is important to practice first with the support of written material and then to identify those sounds without any support. You will be able to recognize sounds grouped in syllables and words of similar pronunciation, and identify them in small samples of real conversations through games and playful online practice.

These classes are aimed at  beginners and intermediate students.

Package 2. Rhythm of spoken Spanish.

2-session class.

Wednesday, January 27 & February 03

From 10:00 to 11:30 am.

Spanish is one of the fastest languages in the world, next to Japanese. Mexican speakers also have fun adding and subtracting syllables to create word games and this gives the impression that they are speaking in code. In this course you will practice with conversation samples and some songs the intonation of Mexican Spanish and you will learn some word games, their construction and their meaning.

These classes are aimed at intermediate and advanced students
