John Shrall
Has anyone used Dra. Salas for an implant recently? I have a diagnosis from Dr Haro which requires waiting for a specialist from Guadalajara to come and perform the procedure. Time and cost are not really considerations however, only results. I have a friend from California that had implants done 2 years ago and spoke highly of her. There posts about not so great outcomes with Dra. Candy that so for the moment she's not in consideration. gringohombre
WOW!!! For a minute i was thinking that you were going through a sex change operation and seeking breast inplants!!! It took a while to figure out that you are looking for teeth implants. Lots of Luck!!! 1
TelsZ4
Dr Haro’s specialist is well worth the wait.
Kiko
I have been to both and if money is of no concern, I would go to Haro or Barragan.
Ferret
If you want it done correctly, pay the money and have either Dr. Haro or Dr. Barragan organize the specialists. Your teeth, gums and mouth can be sources of problems with other organs in your body if not taken care of properly. Spend on your eyes and your teeth. You can cut corners elsewhere. 1
RickS
I'm thinking that John Shrall is aware of the all these things and has said, "Time and cost are not really considerations however, only results"..... but is rather looking for recent experiences with Dra. Cotty Salas.
John Shrall
Thanks Rick. That's correct. The only posts have been recommendations to use Dr Haro's specialist or Barragan but even these may not come from actual experiences, rather opinions based on some unknown criteria. I don't know who Haro's specialist is or if changes from time to time so there's no good way to vet that person other than trusting Dr Haro. I do have one emphatic recommendation for Dr Salas for an implant done 2 years ago. Cost was of no concern for him either. I didn't have high expectations getting any sort of meaningful input so I'm not disappointed. It doesn't hurt to try however.
Ferret
First hand experience with Dr. Haro's office... 3 implants but five years ago and I'm still very happy.
Kiko
Dr. Coty did an implant with me and it failed. I would use her for a root canal though again. I doubt any dentist has a perfect record.
John Shrall
Update. File this under for what it's worth. I went today for the exam. Dra Coty, who listened, put hot and cold water on the tooth that Dr Haro said needed to come out, and then beat it with a metal instrument. She took x-rays and showed me the same image as Dr Haro. They both agreed there was a small infection. Dr Haro said the tooth was damaged and needed to be pulled. Dr Coty said that the infection might have been there for a long time and unless it got bigger it posed no problems. Dra Coty then said that if there was a problem it was the next tooth that had a mixture of a 60 year old amalgam filling and newer materials which was probably repaired here some years back. It's hard to believe that a filling from 1960 wasn't good for life. The bottom line is she suggested waiting and on subsequent dental visits take another x-ray to see if the size of the infection changes. If not, leave it alone. If the other tooth that was not mentioned by Haro starts to cause pain, come back for another look. She emailed the x-rays this afternoon so I'd have a permanent base line. Sometimes a second opinion is good and even better is a doctor that isn't in a rush to cut.
Ferret
John, do you think you might have included the above information in your OP? Yes, it is always a good idea to get a second opinion and even a third opinion. I still stand by Dr. Haro because it was he who discovered the source of my dental problem... a wisdom tooth growing in sideways that was pushing my upper teeth out of alignment. Because this was missed by another very prominent, well known and well liked Dentist, I ended up losing my four front teeth and another molar at the upper back. Sigh. If only. Have you considered the fact that a dead root will not feel hot or cold or the pain associated with being beaten by a metal instrument. And I hope you're taking an antibiotic for the infection because any infection small or large in your mouth is asking for trouble. All old amalgams usually contain mercury and should be completely replaced. I'm gonna climb off my pedestal now and stop preaching. I wish you well.

There is a certain bacteria that builds up in your mouth that can affect your heart. Remember what your mother always said brush your teeth before you go to bed.
