dichosalocura 610
If you have never been, I highly recommend a weekend visit. It can be done in one day but then you would miss the nightly ambience of the main plaza and would miss out on spending the night in one of their beautiful exquisite colonial style hotels. It is one of the most beautiful and colonial small cities in all of Jalisco. It linked Mexico City to Zacatecas, one of the most important silver mining cities in all of México. It is roughly just 2 hours by car from Chapala. If you need a historic and colonial break, by all means go and visit, it is a truly delightful small city with lots of photo options.
tomgates 798
On several occasions we have gone straight thru Lagos on our way north and didn't see anything special. Must have missed it! 1
dichosalocura 610
The town is indeed very special, you have to actually stop and wander around a bit to get a feel for how pretty the centro histórico truly is. Just driving through, you miss a lot. Compared to other towns in central México, it might not be so spectacular, but for Jalisco lacking in abundant colonial cities, this town is amazing. Go check it out. There is even a so called incorrumptible saint given to the town by the Vatican. It is said to he the un decayed remains of a Roman soldier turned martyr and saint. How cool is that (if it were truly true)?
