They told me it is free (no cost) because the government supplies this Strain-3 shot, they are not allowed to charge. This again, is Strain-3, not as preventative as Strain-4 vaccine. Strain-4 will be available in 2-3 weeks. LCS will have it. If there is a stronger dose not available SOB, can we get both the 3 and 4 strain vaccines as a close substitute? I don't know. From what I've read, the #3 has 2 vaccine components against the A strain viruses and 1 against the B strain. The #4 has those, as well as an additional vaccine component against a 2nd type of B virus. They are known as Trivalent (the #3) and Quadrivalent (the #4). The 'high dose' vaccine recommended for older adults is a quadrivalent with ramped up antigens. You do realize you got the Trivalent shot which protects against 3 viruses ( 2 A strains and 1 B strain) and that LCS will be giving the more preventative Quadrivalent shot which protects against 4 viruses (2 A strains and 2 B strains)? Often in life, one gets what one pays for.
artsnob
As l had the life time pneumonia shot my doctor told me to get this shot. I usually get flu every year in October, last year it developed to pneumonia and l spent three nights in hospital, so this shot is better than nothing..
