Need a great dentist

A number of years ago I had a cleaning at Dra. Candy's office and she had her brother.... a young student....do the work. It took only 10 minutes or so and was worthless....but still cost 500 pesos. Never went back.

I must have had the same guy clean my teeth.  He only cleaned the cheek side of my teeth, not also the tongue side.  Took an hour and wanted me to make another appointment for the rest.  He found a "crack" in a tooth and said I would need a root canal and a crown.  I went to another dentist who said my "crack" was normal and nothing to worry about and I didn't need to treat it.  She was his employer so was responsible for everything he did.  I was surprised she didn't do a cursory exam after the cleaning just to check the work.  But she didn't.  Never again.  I found a wonderful dentist in Chapala who does really good work and doesn't charge an arm and a leg like Haro or Barragan.

How can the results of a poll, taken every year by lakeside residents be " a bit of nonsense"?

It was a peculiar poll. Many good dentists weren't on that list-something was wrong with their metrics. I have been here for years and have big ears and never heard of this poll. Just a bit of advertising maybe.

The best of Lake Chapala is a business out to make money. I notice their selection missed many good restaurants but included some that should not be there.

So why not start your own poll? No poll is perfect. Is a NY Times, Fox News or CNN poll perfect? At least Best of Lake Chapala is trying...what are the other alternatives here? And are not all poll takers in"a business out to make money" ?

Why clutter up things.

dont be a myopic :(). people vote for THEMSELVES if they want. the magazine does not do the polling. you have to write in or call. that is why many restaurants are missing and why some who should NOT be in there are in there. if no one else votes in a category then we have an instant winner.

You also are free to start your own poll...lots of luck!!! Is there another poll choice Lakeside?

Talking about cluttering, you seem to be one of the champions, greenGohombre  .

I think we can most all agree that there are some great dentists lakeside. Me? I am happy with Dr. Haro and staff.

DRA LOURDES BARAJAS   765-2800  her office is about two doors south of the bus station on Madero.  Her Covid protocol is outstanding.  She is a very good dentist without having gringo pricing.

Been going to Maria Lourdes for many years and so does my son when he comes for a visit.

Don't delay.  Had a root canal go bad, resulted in a severe infection.  It took 3 different strong antibiotics to treat infection.  Tooth had to be extracted and the infection caused permanent damage to underlying nerve.  We were traveling when the infection started and I delayed treatment, waiting to get home.

  • 1 year later...

Dr. Carlos Cerda Albo is the worst dentist I have ever gone to. He made a new prosthetic for me which was totally worthless, and never finished because it required clips for my implants. He kept putting it off and would not show me the X-rays he took after he gave me bone implants. I got suspicious and went to Dr. Haro. He said there were no bone implants, that they needed some kind of mesh to hold the bone in and that it is the job of a specialist to do, not a dentist. I spent about $5,000 US on this dentist con.

Dr Candy is possibly the worst dentist in town.. and I’m saying this from personal experience.  if all you require is a cleaning OK. anything else get out of there as fast as you can...

Dr Haro or Dr Brarragan both great dentists.. My preference is Dr Haro.

Totally agree

We like Dra Maria Lourdes in Chapala for cleaning and fillings.  For anything more complicated, like root canals or needing a crown or bridge, we go to Dr. Eloy Barragan.

About five years ago, Dra. Lourdes even recommended Dr. Barragan's wife to perform a root canal.  Think they may have worked together at some point in the past.
