CHILLIN
This excellent reading for a Mexican quarantine. Takes place in Northern Mexico in the early 1900's. Especially the ongoing wars and especially the Spanish Flu epidemic when the only medicine was a very expensive new one from Germany, called Aspirin. Despite being magic realism, which so many Latin America authors seem to favor, it is also very insightful to the very roots of Mexican culture. Uncanny similarities to the Covid 19 outbreak.

More Liana
I read the first part, which was strongly related to the current epidemic. One of these days I'll pick it up again to read the second part. Sofía Segovia is a very fine writer and the story is definitely similar to what we are experiencing now, 100 years later.
