Please help identify this plant

Different specimens with different colored flowers of the same plant . The first photo shows the long brown flower stem with an out of focus flower and the leaf structure. The second photo is another specimen with a different colored flower. There's also one with an all white flower. Google image search was no help.

Dahlias gone awry?

That's a dahlia.  When the flowers are weird on any plant it's called a sport and can be used to make another variety with just the particular flower form.  The first photo is of a variety that is supposed to look like that.  The other photo is of a throwback to the original parents of the new variety.

My first thought was a Dahlia but then I looked at different pictures of Dahlia and wondered.
