A Dose of Reality

Mr. Trump has repeatedly suggested that his travel measures impeded the virus’s spread in the United States. “I do think we were very early, but I also think that we were very smart, because we stopped China,” he said at a briefing on Tuesday, adding, “That was probably the biggest decision we made so far.” Last month, he said, “We’re the ones that kept China out of here.”

Facts: There were 1,300 direct flights to 17 cities before President Trump’s travel restrictions. Since then, nearly 40,000 Americans and other authorized travelers have made the trip, some this past week and many with spotty screening.

Since Chinese officials disclosed the outbreak of a mysterious pneumonialike illness to international health officials on New Year’s Eve, at least 430,000 people have arrived in the United States on direct flights from China, including nearly 40,000 in the two months after President Trump imposed restrictions on such travel, according to an analysis of data collected in both countries.

Trump is fulla crap. How come the total number of fatalities throughout China is about 3,200 vs 9,000 in the US? And the outbreak started there? Over 1.3 billion people in that country, vs. 300 million in the US. OH, right, I forgot: intentional biological warfare.

Meanwhile unless there are a whole lot of unfound cases Jalisco isn't doing badly IMO.

This Saturday, the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) reported that four new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Jalisco, one of which was the first reported in San Pedro Tlaquepaque. With these four cases, the number of people positively diagnosed with this disease reached 120, with tests supported by the National Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE).

"This Saturday, the State Epidemiological Surveillance System did not confirm deaths, thereby keeping the number of deaths from infection with the new SAR - CoV2 coronavirus at six ." The SSJ noted that 920 suspected cases in Jalisco have been ruled out to date, as their tests were negative for COVID-19.

Patients have been studied in 82 municipalities, of which cases have been confirmed in only 16 . “Most of the cases are concentrated in Zapopan (41 percent) and Guadalajara (35 percent); In addition, there are confirmed infections in Cuautla, Puerto Vallarta, Tomatlán, Tecolotlán, Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Ameca, Yahualica, San Julián, Lagos de Moreno, Tonalá, San Juan de los Lagos, El Grullo and Acatic ”.

The SSJ recalled that modules for the taking of tests were installed in the municipalities of Puerto Vallarta, Tomatlán and Autlán, in addition to this Saturday itinerant modules were installed in Yahualica and San Julián. This Sunday they will be in the municipalities of Tepatitlán and Lagos de Moreno.

Of the 120 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 80 percent have mild symptoms, which is why they have been treated at home. Another 23 people have required hospitalization, of which seven people were discharged for improvement and six for death. One more had a voluntary discharge, while nine patients are still hospitalized in private and public hospitals. Of these, four are stable, four serious and one more very serious.

If a person has the CV, but does not become severe and does not meet, for whatever reason, the guidelines to be tested, will we ever know how serious this CV is here in Mexico? And, if a person dies at home here from the CV, but was not tested, do they then test them for CV, or just list them as dying from the flu because of similar symptoms ( as many here have died already this season from flu like symptoms) ? And do the numbers reported by Mexico make us feel warm and fuzzy?

In France the only dead people they count are the ones from the hospital. If you die if the virus at home , you are not part of the statistics.. I can see how every country has a different situation and way of counting so the figures are only giving us a general idea but we cannot rely on them  100%

The numbers in Mexico ... who really knows.. My doctor in Chiapas is expecting the worse, I am speaking of my neighbor whose practice was in an indigenous communauty and has mostly indigenous patients. He tells me he has lots of patients with cough ,fever etc.. but that at this time there is no way to get everyone tested  so that we need to take precaution and not assume everything is well.  t maybe different Lakeside or in Guadalajara, I do not know but I sure do not trust the figures I see in Mexico.

I also know from personal experience that many indigenous do not go to the doctor unless they have to. So who know who has the virus and who does not..Yesterday, I was in Amatenango and 5 or 6 trucks from the health department arrived and parked on the Carretera Internacional , they were also people going around the town announcing in Tzeltal that people had to stay home and protect themselves..I ll see Monday what is the people´s reaction  but again good luck getting accurate figures.

I understand AMLO is a pathological liar. He runs the show here in Mexico. Obviously these numbers being given are fraudulant. If many Worldwide pandemic specialists agree publically they are impossible (way too low to believe) then obviously they are.

Even if the President tells the "truth" as reported to him.. there is no way to really account for every case.. The figures locally s¿do not really make sense..they do not follow the pattern reported in the US or EUrope not even close..At first they followed the Spanish figures at the beginning of the pandemic but now the figures n Mexico are not increasing the same way..strange to say the least. I guess possible but strange..

There is one possibility to explain it. Hot salsa kills Covid-19 on contact. ☺

IMO these anecdotal stories... 'who has it, who is getting tested, is testing even available, if I die will it be chalked up to 'just the flu' etc etc etc.... is JUST as valid here in my neck of the woods in the US as in Mexico. I have to show up at the Emergency Room to even have some chance of being tested. Tests ARE being done on first responders/hospital staff but.....

Follow these simple steps and you will have no problem with social distancing.

I can't relate to this person or setting.  Would you be willing to make a video of you doing this and share it with us?

Where my family members live, that is not what is allowed there. You must first call ahead to your doctor to get referred and directions, if your doctor thinks you need to be tested. You cannot just show up at the Emergency Room, as they will not allow you to enter for the CV, but they will inform you where to go to be checked for symptoms first, before the test is to be administered. The thing with the test is that it will not tell you that tomorrow you may not get the CV. So, unless you have strong symptoms, it is a waste of time and test. They will tell you to stay home to see if you get worse. I believe too many think that if they can get tested and they do not have it, then they are "home free". Not true. People need to wake up.

Intelligence agencies say China lied and continues to lie about the number of fatalities. There is NO way we have any idea of how many have died there, so perhaps it's not President Trump who is fulla crap?
