An idea that might work for those people who won't home isolate for no valid reason.

Recommended Posts

I am certain this would work to enforce the stay at home order(s) here.

This may sound very Orwellian, but considering the amount of people who have ignored the order(s) to not conglomerate in groups..

All people who go out for non-essential purposes, such as going to the beach, Malacon, etc. will be isolated in large tents with cots, I'm sure the military has these, given food/water, etc. They will be kept there for 14 days, and the 14 days will restart each time a new "violator" is found.

Go out to shop? OK. But if it's just for fun/diversion, etc. they go into enforced isolation.

Maybe a rule that first time "offender" will be escorted to their house, but if caught out again, it's isolation.

Remember, they are putting not just their own families in jeopardy, but every person they come into contact with.

I just watched "Outbreak," and some of the scenes were exactly what it is today. I saw a video of either military or police vehicles in N.Y. that duplicated a scene from Outbreak, sake with a hospital with patients lining the halls on gurneys.

Desperate times call for  desperate measures.

Not staying at home does not equate  automatically to congregating with people !!!!

Plenty of things do outside safely including shopping for things other than food. If a bazar is empty then the only risk is through touch contact which is easily addressed. There is also economic damage to consider.

The order to stay at home is dumb way of trying to prevent congregations,... which now may happen indoors, even worse

The order should be " Do not congregate with anyone other than immediate family members until it is safe to do so"

I have no idea what should be done about busses, the safe thing would be to stop them but don't know if that will fly here.

I probably should have been more clear. I was thinking of the people who go to the beaches/parks in large groups, and have large gatherings just for fun. These are the ones that may well endanger others.

I am sure those people will read your post on this web board, realize what fools they are, and change their behavior. And, if they don’t then city officials will read your post, declare you a genius, and begin setting up the tents.

Eric, you appear to have far too much time on your hands. Perhaps you could do something that would actually be useful, like collect shopping lists from your friends and neighbors (maintaining social distancing), do all the shopping, wearing mask and gloves, and drop the shopping off at everyone's house, so fewer people have to venture out.

At this point, people have a choice to be part of the solution or part of the problem. Posting whatever latest idea pops into your head is is not part of the solution.

I have actually done shopping for two neighbors.

If 100 ideas are floated, one might just be good/useful.

And since none of us are paying to post here, why the complaint about my posts? Just block/ignore me. But then you wouldn't get the attention you seem to need from the others in the herd.

Feel free to PM me here and I will give you the courtesy of a reply.

Eric, your idea is already being implemented in many places. People found out and about on anything but essential missions are being rounded up, fined, and escorted back to their homes with severe warnings about doing so again. If people don't follow directives to isolate, it will be enforced on them by any government with a brain.

It IS very Orwellian and it's also a bit of martial law, no? And who determines all of this? You?

All people who go out for non-essential purposes, such as going to the beach, Malacon, etc. will be isolated in large tents with cots, I'm sure the military has these, given food/water, etc. They will be kept there for 14 days, and the 14 days will restart each time a new "violator" is found.

As a retired military member, you just reminded me of how much free time we had--surely perfect to enforce this new world order for 14 days. Yeah, give some 19 year old the power to enforce rules and violators...great idea!

Go out to shop? OK. But if it's just for fun/diversion, etc. they go into enforced isolation.

Ummmm...so shopping must be for essentials? So who determines the essentials? YOU? If I'm out for meat/veg/whatever and happen to find something that makes me smile, do I instantly go into your forced isolation?

Maybe a rule that first time "offender" will be escorted to their house, but if caught out again, it's isolation.

Great idea! Free cab ride home!!!

Remember, they are putting not just their own families in jeopardy, but every person they come into contact with.

I know many will find my "mind think"  nuts, but life has to go on. We all still need daily essentials like, oh, I don't know...food?...and since we're not all farmers, we have to go find it from somewhere and last time I checked, most veg doesn't last 14 days. There are folks who live day-to-day and 14 days of your imposed isolation means that they will be in deep doo-doo. So, do docs and medical folks also self isolate? Ah...so exceptions must be made. Unfortunately, life has to go on and that's true of our current situation.

I just watched "Outbreak," and some of the scenes were exactly what it is today. I saw a video of either military or police vehicles in N.Y. that duplicated a scene from Outbreak, sake with a hospital with patients lining the halls on gurneys.

Yeah, that always works out so well, doesn't it? And if someone fails in this isolation of yours, do they get shot? What is the punishment? Who determines it?

Hopefully, most folks understand where I'm coming from. I'm not knocking the precautions that must be done, but some of the things I've read are just beyond nuts. As I've said before, I still go out for shopping/banking/whatever is needed, but I try to keep my distance. I walk each day for exercise and continue my quiet little retired life. My hands are constantly washed and I wash my face, too, just in case. I work in the garden and putter around the home, but I'm not going to go into a little plastic bubble. If you feel otherwise, then your health isn't at risk since your self-isolation will ensure you never "bump"  into me. I genuinely wish everyone the best during these crazy times.

New World Order? I know someone here who is a very deep believer in that theory. I am not, but I always tell her, I can't say she is wrong.

As to my thought about isolation:

Do you know what a "Think Tank" is?

A group of people get together, the head honcho says: "Here is the problem. Throw me all your ideas, I don't care how crazy they are, toss them in the pot."  Sometimes a good answer is found, often by modifying what might otherwise be a bad idea.
