geeser
Has anyone had an angioplasty and stent in Guadalajara in the last year or two. Could you share the cost and name of physician and hospital used?

gringal
I suggest seeing Dr. Briseno at Quality Care in the Laguna Mall. Highly recommended cardiologist. 4
TelsZ4
No one can give you a price .. there are so many factors involved, I don’t think even a cardiologist can give a firm price. Until they do the angioplasty they don’t know how many stents you need..

Not in the Laguna Mall. He is located in Interlago Plaza. I would recommend him too.

I would think that it is possible to share whatever costs someone has experienced...True there are variables, but the basic procedure is not exactly a new science ...so come on folks cough up and share what and when and where you received this procedure. 1

These are published for many countries but not Mexico's gringo areas.

HoneyBee
Well if this is any guideline, my mom had a total of 4 stents implanted in 2009 at the Los Angel De Carmen Hospital. It was 2 separate operations (2 stents and 2 stents). 15,000.00 US dollars each ($10,000.00 for the hospital and $5,000.00 for the Cardiologist) or a grand total of $ 30,000.00. Had no insurance cover so I had to take the hit.

HoneyBee
No the cardiologist was Dr Flores. Back then he use to visit the Ajijic clinic maybe once a week. He just so happened to be there when I wheeled my mom in.

MexLuis
Careful with recommendations of stent. We had that recommendation, from a top/well known cardiologist here in Mexico. We then reviewed with Cardiologist from States, and he ordered another test, then concluded not only was not required at all. He went on to explain that having that put in place could have led to problems later. This from a University of Penn Cardiologist.

And I have the discs from my 5 stent placements done here, and if i would not have had them I would have been dead as is clearly shown before and after placement on the disc. Here your records belong to you which is a damn good thing.

Mrs. Rupert
HoneyBee- you got taken, just like we did. Flores charged us almost $50,000 US for ONE stent for my husband in 2011. He is evil, evil, evil. It was a horrible event and he is a horrible doctor. 1

Sacbe
My husband (a physician) had an angiogram and three stents placed in January, 2018. Dr. Briseño, in our opinion and experience, is excellent. He is an Intervention Cardiologist so he can do both the assessment (like a regular cardiologist) and the recommended procedure (which requires his specialty.) He had his father, also a cardiologist, assist him. I just looked up the costs back then: Doctor: Hector Briseno, Interventional Cardiologist. Performed procedure of angioplasty and 3 stent placements 50,000 MP LAB and Stent costs: TEVO, Av Terranova 556 Prados de Providencia, Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico 44670 Catheterization Lab/Materials Angioplasty with 3 stent placements 200,894 MP Hospital Terranova , Hospitalization Overnight, nursing care, materials, 4,190 MP Pre-Op Assessment: Quality Care, Libramiento Chapala-Ajijic No. 132, Plaza Interlago, Local 6, Ajijic, JA. C.P. 45920 Medical Consultation/Stress Echocardiogram 4,700 MP Total Cost: $259,784 MP Around $15,000 USD equivalent at the time (I recall that each stent cost roughly $3500 for the stent alone.)

johanson
On Jan 6th I visited the heart specialist at the new hospital. His name is Dr. Garcia Garcia. The cost of the surgery for the 3.5mm stent and ride to the hospital was $4,000 US. I wrote a check for that amount on my US B/A checking account. The cost of using the operation room and the room I stayed in that night at the hospital was in pesos and worked out to be slightly more than $6,000 US. So the total cost was slightly more than $10,000 US for a stent and staying overnight in the hospital.
