shortstop
Does anyone have a recommendation for a company or independent guy who cleans solar panels? It requires climbing up on the tile roof. Thanks for any info.
johanson
How about Opiere Solar at 376-766-6148. At that is the Tel # in the phone book. They are a good company

ea93105
Nobody should walk on a tile roof. I'm sure a extending pool type cleaning stick with a mop or something would do the job
tomgates
I quit cleaning them several years ago. With occasional hard rains, no change in daily output.
ComputerGuy
I second Opiere. They have gotten into the cleaning aspect in-depth over the last year. And the panels are reachable, since they were already installed by somebody, lol.
Ferret
Mother Nature does a great job and uses soft water.

It is reasonable to assume that solar panels can loose 15-25% of their efficiency if not cleaned properly. This literally means that they will generate 15-25% less electricity, which you now will have to source from the utility company at their price rates. Ferret
Tomgates has no change in daily output and neither do I. So, I figure it's safe to assume that 1) they're either not dirty enough to cause a lowering of output or 2) mother nature is doing a fine job. chapalence
Our gardener/handyguy cleaned ours with a mop. When anyone has needed to do anything on our tile roof they have simply moved a few and then replaced them. It's concrete beneath and solid.

Mainecoons
I clean mine one per year in the Spring with a light scrub and rinse with soft water. Once the rains start the dustiness drops and as noted a couple hard rains cleans them pretty good. Biggest problem with mine is bird poop in the Spring. That's mainly why I clean. If you are doing a new install give careful consideration to providing for maintenance.

Go Solar
In the dry / dusty time of the year, once every month or two; Give the panels a thorough rinse with clean water in the cool part of the day, then squeegee or soft-cloth dry to avoid water spotting (less of an issue for those with water softeners). Most gardeners / handyman types can and will handle this for you easily and inexpensively. PM or email for any questions.
