luvsdawgs Posted January 22, 2020 Report Share Posted January 22, 2020 There was much talk last year about the new law which requires homeowners to report and pay various taxes for the maids and gardeners. I haven't seen anything about it lately and it was my understanding that it was to go into effect as of January 1. Does anyone know what the latest on that is? I imagine maids and gardeners that work for some corporations and businesses are on company payrolls, such as hotels and resort areas, even the balneario in SJC. Just being a homeowner hiring help and paying taxes would still require the necessary enrollment in the government SAT program and doing the monthly filings and payments of retenciones by a Contador Publico.
