Susan111 1
Hi there, I will be renewing vehicle registration for a friend this month in Chapala, however have heard conflicting information about what is required for this. What I understand is if I have the plate number, the vehicle owner's full name and DOB, that is all that is required to renew. I don't require to bring in past years receipts or copies of receipts for this process. Any thoughts to illuminate this would be appreciated! In gratitude, Susan
Ezzie 97
All you need is the plate#. Taking a past receipt is the easiest way - you just hand the previous year's receipt to the clerk and they do the rest. You do not need to be the registered owner to do the renewal.
Mostlylost 1,217
Ezzi is correct. My wife is a retired manager from Jalisco Fianzas. Plate number is all that is needed.
cedros 925
If you want to just change the address on the registration do you need a light or CFE or? bill showing your name and the new address?
Mostlylost 1,217
Yes to change address you will need your federal issued ID plus CFE or Telmex (original & copies) less than 90 days old.

Ferret 2,593
It is not a flat rate. It depends on the vehicle and how old it is.
John Shrall 318
The 2019 rate was $590 for cars and $168 for an ATV. In January the discount is 10%. I have 2009 and 2017 cars. Both were charged the same fee..
Ferret 2,593
Sorry. I've obviously made a mistake. My apologies.
Orygun Duck 51
Where is the registration office located and what is the deadline for payment of fees. AND, sorry to reopen old wounds, but will Jalisco be conducting car inspections this year and where locally? Thanks in advance.
Mostlylost 1,217
The recaudadora is on Degollado about 1 block from the park. You can pay anytime but there is a discount in Jan and Feb
Mainecoons 4,952
If you are renewing a moto, don't forget to take your moto license and copy of your insurance in to receive the lower renewal rate. This is new for this year.
Eric Blair 246
When I asked Parker Insurance, I was told there is no insurance policy for an ATV. This was 4 years ago. Anyone know of any change?

For motorcycles you pay $260.00 pesos and they will probably try and tack on the red cross fee.
sm1mex 379
The Reporter says 15% if paid in January but the person above said 10% discount and January. The Computer website also says 10% so is the reporter correct with 15% discount in January or is the discount really 10% in January.

If you have a Jalisco plated car you have to get a sticker for 2020 anyway no matter what the cost. Just go and get it.
RVGRINGO 2,072
I think the fees are posted on the wall, by vehicle age and type, at the Recaudadora's office, where you present your plate number and pay.
tomgates 791
$638 just now. No stickers until Jan 15 however.

It would be even nicer if some people recognized a direct answer even if it may or may not be to their liking.
