sm1mex
The pilot light on my Ventless gas logs keeps going out. There is plenty of gas supply to the pilot light but it keeps going out. Comments please.
pappysmarket
Depending on your risk tolerance...you might want to get a plumber to check out your setup.
Kyle
Just had a guy come lite mine and he said he had to bleed the line so it would stay lit. Don't know what that actually means but it works now . does leaving the pilot on use a lot of gas?
RickS
I guess it depends on one's definition of 'a lot'. But surely no where near what a regular water heater uses keeping water at 120+ degrees just in case one wants to have a shower.
sm1mex
Kyle so who was your gas line guy. We have plenty of gas it just won’t stay lit.
rafterbr
Quite often your pilot will get fuzz, and other matter around it. This will cause the pilot to go out. A natural gas employee showed me by getting a regular straw and blowing hard on the pilot you can eliminate most of the fuzz and the pilot will stay lit. Tried it in my rent houses and it works. He told me all the gas employees in the state carry straws in their trucks for this purpose.
MtnMama
A couple of years ago, someone asked about cleaning the gas line to a fireplace and I copied this name: Carlos Ramirez (376) 765-5597. cell (045) 333-903-5891 We haven't ever tried to use the fireplace, so I haven't used him but might be worth a call.. Mostlylost
99% of the time it is the thermocouple. (It's the metal sensor in the pilot flame connected to the regulator by a thin metal tube) Cheap and easy replacement.

Make sure pilot light is clean and adequate and thermocouple is in it when lit. Very easy to remove and replace, most of the local hardware stores have them. Take the one you remove in with you to make sure you get the same one. If the tube is a bit longer that doesn't matter.
