Overnight in Laredo (USA)

Truly the worst town NOB to go shopping. There is a huge mall right beside my hotel of choice, but no box stores or anything like that. The Courtyard Marriott. Two years ago wangled a deal for $80/night and stayed two nights. They have a free shuttle that will take you anywhere. Also includes large breakfast, happy hour food and drinks. https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/lrdcy-courtyard-laredo/

Two years back, we stayed at La Posada, which is right on the river and near the downtown border crossing. Nice place, good restaurants,  guarded underground parking, I recall around $100 USD a night.

Have always stayed at the hotel on Hillside Drive.   Beside a great burger joint, think its called Fudruckers.   Otherside of the hotel is the mall.   Sketchers, Bed Bath Beyond just up the street from the mall, close tomDMV.   Sorry can’t recall the name

Just so you know, the Pharr crossing is closed to car traffic from 8am-4pm.  Of course, there are no signs telling you this.  I sat in a line of trucks for about a hour to get up to the car passage and it was closed.  I was directed by signs to go around and around and ended up at the Hidalgo crossing.

My experiences with the Mexican consulate in McAllen would say, no way! I have never been to Laredo's but I see so many that have. Brownsville has a co-operative and comfortable office and while they require appointments, my many experiences there have shown that if you go first thing in the morning that they will work you in.
