Looking for IT help

I am moving to a new house. There are 3 wires that appear to run into the house from the outside. I think they are Ethernet cables. They look like a phone line wire but are bigger/wider. Then there’s one that looks like a TV coaxial cable like cable TV. I also have an Infinitum Telmex box. I think it’s a router. It broadcasts a WiFi signal.

Someone said I need a modem. Telmex says they don’t provide equipment. My Telmex router is missing the wire to plug it into the electric wall outlet but they don’t provide them so I’ve been looking for one.

Not sure what I need or what to connect so I have WiFi. I stream TV so I need WiFi.

I need to buy a telephone also to make calls

Anyone available to help?

So confused.

These are some weird questions. You've been here for a bit; you moved back in July. You know what TelMex service consists of. I'm not sure what you are getting at.

Let me answer what I can. You are correct: ethernet cables are like fatter phone lines. They do not run from a phone pole to the house. However, the standard telephone cable in use is a fairly fat, black line that does not look like the cord that goes between your phone and the wall outlet in the house.

The TelMex box is a modem/router, from whence the WiFi comes. When you get a contract, which surely you've done before, you are renting the modem from TelMex. Take it in and tell them it is their responsibility to replace parts, because it is a rented device.

The fat cable is probably from the cable company.

How did you get the house? I assume it's a rental. Whoever rented it to you should be answering your questions.
