Techno-moron question

I just bought a new answering machine/landline with instructions in English for a change, and I STILL don't understand them. Apparently I need an extra part for set-up: "If you subscribe to DSL high-speed internet through your telephone line make sure you install a DSL filter (not included)."

So I'm guessing this is what I have thru Telecable, (Wizz) tho I just have the basic package of cable/phone/internet?

If that's the case, where do I find a DSL filter here? Steren? Telecable? Other? Phones used to be easy...

The DSL filter is for a phone connected to a Telmex line. Does your dial tone come from Telmex or Telecable? Telecable is cable, not DSL so one would not be needed if they provide dial tone.

If you do need one I have a box full of them here. I'll send you a PM with info if you'd like to stop by and pick up as many as you need.

John is steering you right. A TelMex DSL filter separates the signal between POTS (landline) and Internet, on the same standard copper wiring that TelMex uses to come into your house. It acts as a splitter of sorts. If you had TelMex, you would plug your modem into one of the jacks of the filter, and your phone into the other, and the filter directly into the wall telephone source. Since you have cable Internet, this is something you don't need to concern yourself with. (And the TelMex modem always includes a filter.)

And please, never refer to yourself as a Techno-Moron. We, who might be slightly techno challenged, like to refer to ourselves as "Delighted Clients of Brilliant Tech Specialists",  who are certainly entitled to call people who don't employ them morons.
