genetically neutral words

Recommended Posts

You may have noticed in the English speaking world, especially among liberal journalists, that gender neutral words are quickly being adopted. No more Mr., Miss, Ms., him or her- instead the prefix Mx. is suggested, fo example "someone should tell Mx. Cheesy McNuts to mind they own business". Is this happening in Mexico too? Is Sx. a recommended prefix? Will masculine and feminine words eventually become neutral? Interesting.

Words change quickly, for example the country of Ukraine recently announced that it is Ukraine, not the The Ukraine, and its capital city is Kyiv, not Kiev. Other words change slowly, for example a liberal conservative paper where I used to live, the Vancouver Sun, has had a campaign for as long as I can remember to change "fishermen" to "fishers". I was quite surprised when our own Pedro used the term fishers the other day.

Not to worry……..it´s a slow day with only one proponent who couldn´t think of anything better to post about. What´s the old saying about being silent as opposed to speaking and insuring your intelligence evaluation?   LOL

Language, customs, and culture change and evolve over time. They always have and always will. You adapt and change or you don't. No one cares. The dinosaurs eventually die off and the language, customs, and culture remain and continue to go on changing and evolving. Get over yourself.

Crazy as it sounds, some of actually call it consideration for others. That, and we don't get our panties or tighty-whities in a bunch over something that costs us nothing while improving the lives of other folks. But, hey, to each his own.
