MexSeekin
Might anyone know of a shop in Ajijic, San Antonio, or Chapala where I can bring my suitcase to have a missing zipper replaced? Thanks.
Natasha
I would try the shoe repair place in Chapala. Go one block above the main plaza. Turn right (one way). Go through first intersection, and to the next "T" intersection ---- very close by. On the bottom (lake) side there is a shoe repair shop. They seem to be able to fix anything!!

Absolutely the best in this area. Southside of Degollado where it intersects with Privada Degollado at the T intersection.

moonhill
I recently used the little shop on the carreterra in ajijic. Just a few doors east of the light at colon on the lakeside. Fixed the zipper in one day, charged 150 pesos. I just returned from a month of travel and it worked great. It was a softsided case.
mudgirl
Here's an at-home zipper repair that can sometimes work. As long as the zipper pull is still there, but the zipper simply isn't zipping up anymore (you zip it closed, but it just separates), move the zipper pull back as far as it will go, then take a pair of pliers and slightly squish the two sides of the pull where the zipper itself goes through. These zipper guides get opened too much after a lot of use and that's why it doesn't pull the zipper closed anymore. Most often it's the pull that's the issue, not the zipper itself.
