Lily H
Number of US retirees collecting social security in Mexico according to US Social Security Administration data (Article appeared on Market Watch August 10.)
Bisbee Gal
Probably the tip of the iceberg as many retirees in Mexico have their SS checks deposited into US accounts. 3
Jreboll
Also, many are Mexicans who worked in US and returned home.

Yep. I would guess it's off by a factor of ten, at least. And it doesn't take into account the mostly here part timers.
tomgates
Very misleading graphic. It is estimated that upwards of 2 million US persons are in Mexico, retired or otherwise. As Bisbee said, most of US retirees have their SS deposited in a US bank so no US government institution can say for sure where they live. Lily H
I agree the total retirees taking social security in Mexico seems too low. There may never be an acurate count considering the difficulties of such task. I'm suprised at the high number counts in Canada and especially Japan though.
