VOLUNTEERS WANTED

Have Hammer...Will Travel is a nonprofit organization that teaches valuable life skills to Mexican youth/adults through woodworking and carpentry.  We are seeking volunteers to help with any of the tasks required to keep HHWT's resources moving forward, such as:

·        creation of small or large products that are custom-ordered

·        photography (including use of Dropbox)

·        communications and public relations (eg., newsletter, notice blasts, newspaper articles)

·        3D design (eg., furniture measurements and plans, drafting designs)

·        website management

·        fundraising

·        grant writing (eg., to related unions, Rotary Clubs, related companies, etc.)

·        monitoring and evaluation (eg., student skills and performance, products, attendance)

·        office and student records (eg., liability info, product photos and records, hours attended, tuition paid, etc.)

·        electrical work (basic electrical work with lights and machines/tools)

·        woodworking machine/tool repair

·        cleaning and facilities maintenance.

We are looking for experienced woodworkers who can help create small or large products that are custom-ordered.  We also seek woodworking instructors for children, youth, and young adults, including basic carpentry, wood carving, chip carving, and lathe-turning instructors.  We welcome someone who can arrange an occasional Saturday workshop with expert woodworkers.

These opportunities don't require immediate Spanish skills but provide a meaningful venue for acquiring some Spanish.  Plus, the small, dedicated board of directors is enjoyable to work with.  For more info, please email eloyg@unm.edu, and/or come by the workshop in Riberas del Pilar (231-A Hidalgo, near 7-11; 766-4830) to chat with the instructor(s) or to visit the classes (class schedule is Monday through Friday 3:00-5:30 and M-W-F 10:00-12:30).see lalo or eloy

We look forward to answering your questions.  Please visit our website at http://www.havehammer.org  to see what we're doing.  Gracias!
