cyos1133
I have a question regarding taking a car from the US to Mexico with a temporary permit. I (US citizen) will be a co-owner on my boyfriends dads truck. My boyfriends dad is a permanent US resident and also a Mexican citizen. He will be traveling to Mexico to visit family and wants to take this truck. How should he go about doing this? How can he get the necessary temporary permit to take the truck across the border. I will not be with him on this trip. Any advice or information is appreciated!
RVGRINGO
As a Mexican citizen, he is subject to different rules; not the same as for expats with visas, or for tourists. That said, he may be able to get an importada temporal for a visit. Naturally, he must buy Mexican insurance, and remove the vehicle from Mexico when he leaves. The title and registration must be in his name, even if you are also on the title. He should look up the details on a Mexican Aduana website. The answers are there. AlanMexicali
A Mexican citizen with a US Permanent Resident visa or dual citizenship can get a TIP for up to 1 year good for multiple exits and re-entrys. The TIP has to be turned in before the 1 year is up.

Multiple exits and re-entries within one year for a total of 6 months total time inside Mexico before turning the TIP in. 2
Sonia
From my web site: Mexican Nationals Living Abroad may obtain a TIP. As well as proving work abroad for a year or more, they must submit the document issued by the immigration authorities of the foreign country proving they are a permanent or temporary residents abroad by the legal authority of that country in accordance with international agreements to which Mexico is a party http://www.soniadiaz.mx/vehicles.html
