ComputerGuy
That is a tough one. Every one I've tried has eventually failed to come through when it counts. I need a good one, too, to fix what the last guy did.
Ferret
Agreed. And I'm the one who recommended him to ComputerGuy so I'm keeping my mouth shut although he did a good job for me installing NEW fans and moving one older fan to a new location. chapala45900
Maybe your electrician can help you?
ComputerGuy
No, electricians are un peso por docena here. Usually electrician/plumbers, which means that most often, they are not quite good enough at either job. With ceiling fans, you really want someone who understands the insides... which, as Ferret will tell you, are not complicated but have the ability to make even the brightest-seeming guys get a blank look. Everything from reversing the spin, reversing the speeds, blowing parts and not being able to fix them... not understanding that a 10 foot ceiling needs a drop pole for the fan... the list goes on.
rvanparys
Any QUALIFIED electrician can do this... However...my kitchen three speed before repair is now a two speed... Depth of knowledge is sadly lacking hereabouts...

ComputerGuy
Qualified is the key word. rvanparys, maybe your comment would hold water up north, but here? Far too many are not. I even had a lawn mower mechanic that I paid to do a tune-up, because gas had gotten into it, and he never bothered to try and start it after the tune-up. Of course, it didn't start. Whoops, hijacking again. Damn.
HarryB
Raphael Granados has done a good job for us 3334864706.
court0503
Second Rafael...installed mine this week, tricky job done well.
Ferret
I laughed Harry because it was Rafael that I recommended to ComputerGuy.
ComputerGuy
Trouble was, he couldn't follow through. Apart from breaking four appts before finally coming back to finish up, he had nothing but excuses.
Rick Sanchez
His latest excuse to us (many months ago) was that he needed to get transportation for his tall ladder. Never heard from him again, and we were past clients!
chapalence
Alberto Farias 331 706 9407 Good with all things electrical, plumbing, and assorted other handyman jobs. He has done excellent work for us over the past several years correcting the problems left by Enrique "Kike" Hernandez or Chavarria Enrique or whatever name he is using now. Alberto is fair, honest, and doesn't overbook in spite of being in demand. Speaks English and loves a Dr. Pepper
Sea
I was referred to a fan store that's next to Food Container by my electrician. He said they do the installations also. I know nothing about the quality of work or if you're already talking about the same guy.
ComputerGuy
Rafael was working at the lighting shop beside Sunrise Restaurant before he went on his own. I did hear that the store by Food Container had someone; thanks, I will check it out.
Ferret
The lighting shop beside the Sunrise Restaurant AND the store by the Food Container AND Quick Blinds are all owned by the same entity.
ComputerGuy
Good point. So asking any one of them should get us someone new.
CHILLIN
The issue is ladders and ceiling heights. Some installations require working off a high step ladder, dangerous and tricky work. Maybe Saul the window washer guy if he is better now.
sm1mex
Rafael came today on time to do fan work. Also his partner Carlos installs air-conditions and services them.
Ferret
Glad that worked out for you sm1mex. Hope you've got them all going full tilt right now.
luvsdawgs
In my last and also in current house I had an electrician install the fans. My female godchild installed the one I had up north. She was not an electrician, read the installation instructions. Oh, and my neighbor across the street had hers done by the handyman.
ComputerGuy
So what you're saying is your godchild is a better electrician than Rafael and his partner. I won't deny it.
Ferret
LOL. Now you KNOW that most guys aren't going to read the instructions. My hubby used to say that instructions are the fall back position for when what you did didn't work.
