kimanjome
Has anyone used the Notary from the US Consulate who visits LCS and the American Legion? If so, can you answer how the Notary affixed his/her seal, meaning, what jurisdiction is on the Notary's signature? Does it say, US Consul? I am doing an Self-Proving Affidavit for a will, and now that I am an expat I can't put my residence in Florida, as I have none, although my assets are all there. But as I edit the fields on the PDF forms I was wondering if there are any fields I can fill in advance, such as the Notary information. Thanks. kimanjome
That is not my question. My question is, does the notary's personal seal have the state from which the notary obtained his/her notarization? As in, from where he/she came from, before working for the Consulate? But my husband is a retired attorney and he answered my question (should have asked him first) and he said, no, the, the notary's personal stamp will say U S Consulate where the State name usually is. Ellie
The consulate notary is authorized by the U.S. Government. No state is involved.
kimanjome
So the seal / stamp, if there is one, merely reads U.S. Government in lieu of the words "State of XXXXXX" , correct?
John Shrall
Yes. This was a POA for a house closing in Dallas. The title company accepted the notary's signature.
